Rockstar were developing for PC only back then too and look at them now. We are lucky if we get half assed port 1 year later after the console release.

Rockstar was always console developer, but they do fantastic job and they make fantastic game and thats why even PC players like them. Anyhow like someone told, if this game make lot of money on ps4 in near future we will have chance to play Red Orchestra 3: Secret missions of secret Alpha squad. 10vs10 maps with lot lot lot unlocks and tons of skins for you favorite rifle, and dont forget prestige mode.

you're an optimistic chap aren't you?
If you look back at what TWI said they're doing, in all likelihood we'll be getting KF2 in early access early next year in a refined but content limited form, then after a few months of adding the remaining content it'll be considered 'final' and then the process to get it on PS4 will start
Which means it'll be on PC only to start with, refined and balanced on PC, and only then once that's all over the move to PS4 will be made
Nothing about this development process suggests there is bias towards consoles
I too have had my views changed by this trailer, but I don't don't take quantum leaps in judgement because after all, we've probably seen less than 15 minutes of gameplay so far
And have at least some faith in TWI for god's sake

it's an instrumental of this

zynthetic's stuff really fit the horror themes of KF and got the blood pumping, but I wouldn't mind some more actiony music since to be honest horror takes the backseat to action in both games, but that's a discussion for another thread

If it's worth anything, I'm not really bothered about KF2 having a console release, I think it's a cool thing. I'm just hoping TWI end up doing what Valve did with Left 4 Dead and TF2 - which is to make PC the lead platform. Those games would have stayed bogged down if the PC and console versions were to be treated as equal.

Will there be, or has there been any compromise made on part of the PC version to allow for a PS4 version?

If NO, great! make it work with an atari 2600 for all i care... But if YES....well i would like to know how that effects the game or what possible feature was dumped.

Our goal is for this not to happen. PC is the lead dev platform and as we have stated before we will have some amazing options for players who want to crank things to 11.

Our current goal for the PS 4 we are targeting what we are expecting to be the High graphics settings at 1080 and 60 FPS. As of right now we are not foreseeing any gameplay differences between the two platforms (we've been playtesting with controllers recently) but we will be doing some blindtesting in the near future as well to get feedback about it.

One more thing, No one mentioned the scrakes in the footage? all the PS4 has overshadowed it i think.

Im a little disappointed it was not saved as its own little feature:(

What happened you where "compiling security footage" Now it is shown as part of a PS4 port?

I know I've talked about this one before. The reason the Scrake didn't show up in the MEAT the zeds video is because he was undergoing a redesign at the time. That new "old" Scrake design may be used for something else in the future. We wanted to make sure this trailer had awesome new reveals so the long time fans would be able to enjoy and tear it apart for details!

If both versions are being created equal then it means the PC version will suffer by default. The fact that you can't turn fast in a console FPS means less frantic action in game.

Lets not forget what Microsoft made Valve do with map DLC for L4D2 on 360 as well, charged people for it when it was free on PC

Good to hear PC is the lead platform though, this should mean no delays with content updates whereas console players will probably be waiting months for it.

@ Welsh:

Where do have that statement from? Have you played either the Gears series or Unreal Championship 2? Halo and CoD may or may not be frantic but the aforementioned games invalidate your pacing on consoles statement.

Clean your glasses, emo kids and dry those tears.
Every image shown so far is from the *{awesome}* alpha PC version, according to the labels.
Every frame. Not one frame from any console version.

Now, which version do you think has had more attention, developer effort and focus?
Do any of the clips, of obviously in-engine gameplay, look like weak tea?
Do you see a crosshair? Do the number of zeds on screen seem low?
Do they look slow? Does the gun handling look simplified? No, no, no.

I am excited by the look of all the clips I've seen. I think we're about to get a great sequel.
Like Alien to Aliens. The first was lower budget, darker, grittier and a little more counter culture, the sequel was big, brash, more mainstream and slick, but lots of fun.

I haven't really played console FPS games for years. The last ones i played to death were Goldeneye 64 and Perfect Dark. I got into PC gaming a little after that and i just went off using controllers. I know for a fact that L4D2 was watered down on console though because there were less common infected, but because PC was the lead platform it didn't affect it.

But if games are developed with both console & PC in mind then they surely have to take into account player reaction times by using a mouse over a controller. If not then i suppose it just makes the console versions harder. So no loss either way except for people moaning that the game is too hard.

I can't imagine how difficult it would be to play Berserker in KF1 with a controller, especially in the more confined maps.

RIP.

Theres no way this can end well for the definitive version and thats straight from the horses mouth. When Coffee Stain Studios did this with Sanctum 2 it basically turned the game into a twitch shooter with a little bit of tower defense, completely hyperbole to the original game. It was due entirely to the fact that consoles actually could not handle the greater limits of AI and towers, because of that the PC release suffered.

In an FPS situation, a high end controller user will not even be regarded as a medium skill range KBM user. This has been true for over a decade in all FPS games that have traditionally been KBM. The inherent use of a controller automatically means the use of accommodations to supplement the lack of control that a controller brings. The fact that you say you're "Not foreseeing any gameplay differences" means PC is being brought down to match the console version. This has been true for all PC->Console releases in the past. I want to believe in you tripwire, that you will be the one that finally breaks this vicious cycle of 'accessibility' But I have been burned too many times before by previous devs and sequels to believe that such is even possible. Unless you're doing something that no console dev has ever done before to define the FPS genre with regards to using a controller, I forsee this being nothing other than a downgrade .Be this in controls, limitations or something else entirely it indefinitely means the PC release is going to suffer.

Please don't disappoint.

My concerns just lie with developer resources. Is developing for the PS4 that close to developing for PC? I think I've heard the PS4 is close to PC hardware, but I honestly don't know.

I love TWI but let's be honest, the RO2 launch was anything but smooth. And even though many updates have come and I've been very satisfied with RO2, let's not forget how often we heard "we're a small team of developers." RO2 development also kinda seemed to go on different very unexpected tangents, which some of those tangents were certainly really cool.

Now if developing for PS4 can be nearly as easy as copy+pasting PC code or something, I have no worries. But if your team hasn't doubled and you're adding the burden of developing for the PS4, I just don't want to jump right in and throw all my money at you (I'm sadly poor-as-fok right now. Don't even have a computer to properly game on and might not for another year).

I'm sure TWI really does want nothing but the best, but reality happens and things change sometimes. I'm not just gonna listen to the promises, I want to kinda see how it really plays out first.

^THIS

I'm really glad to be reading posts on here more about concern rather than bashing and slashing like it is in youtube comments (no surprise). I feel that is part of what makes TWI and the community great.

This, besides the Ouya KF Calamity, is TWI's first console release so I don't expect to see AAA quality upon release. What I do expect and hope for is the community feedback will be constructive and TWI doing their best to polish both PC and PS4 version to be the best it can be.

It sort of reminds me of what my parents have done. When I was younger and said what I wanted to become when I grew up, they voiced their concerns, but they supported me and never once hindered me of my dreams. To this day, I do my best to not let them down.

So guys, express concerns but be the supportive and caring community you've always been and watch TWI do us proud :D

Cheers

While I think it's great that you're expanding to another market and I'm happy for you, TWI, the fact that you do not foresee any differences between PC and PS4 versions is bad news indeed.

The only way this will work is if PS4 version of the game will be easier than PC version. I don't believe the game can be equally difficult when comparing PC and PS4 controls. So if there will be no differences between the two versions, that means that the game will be either too easy for PC users (especially for KF1 fans), or too hard for PS4 users.

This is my main concern. KF1 was already too easy on HoE if everyone knows what to do so I was expecting KF2 to be way harder than KF1 currently. I want to get wiped out 9/10 games :D The harder the merrier.

I must admit that the announcement of a PS4 version brings some concerns regarding the PC version. However, I think the devs anticipated such reactions and will do their best in order not to deceive their community.

Also, we have to keep in my mind that Tripwire has planned to launch KF2 in Early Acces, which is not going to happen on PS4 I guess. This means that the PC version WILL be different from the console one. Hopefully, if our concerns are justified, EAcces will allow Tripwire to polish the game until it is what it should be in my opinion: the sequel to KF1, a true PC FPS, and hardcore.

But again, I think we should have faith in TW. The trailer has shown awesome and gore gameplay, new weapons, THE SCRAKE, and a beautiful soundtrack. I'm still hyped like a child waiting for christmas to come. I CAN'T WAIT, TAKE MY DOSH NOW.

Keep up the good work TW.

This is where the Early Access comes in. That's our chance to say "come on fellas, this is too easy/handholding, kind of like Lego for Teletubbies handcuffed to a cow"

TW have stated on many occasions that they'll take on board feedback from the EA.
