"a tk is still a tk" - oops, I guess that was me telling you that. But I think I corrected myself after I took a glance at the scoreboard (I had just joined the server, was running up to the boat crossing and saw you shooting this other guy, thinking "what's up? can't recall lebowski being a team killer ... did someone just pee on his carpet?" ;) ). You should have stayed a bit longer though, after the first round ... He in fact did reach -180 or something (and just about everybody picked up TKing him then. BTW, the Germans on the map also had an excessive TKiller - sometimes they seem to come in pairs). Must be the negative record on RO... Plus: in Odessa afterwards he was SNIPER! ZOMG! I quit, then.

-180?? My god, such a dilligent tkr....plus, he had time to write slurs about germany and france or something.
A truly gifted little fellah.

A day or two later Ive seen him in Odessa, I messaged - "beware.M is a known tkr", and then POOF- he was gone from the server. TKpunish was activated at last. :)

EDIT:Another thing I just thought of to hamper TK idiots is make the penalty for TK-ing a Sniper HUGE. Like maybe even more than killing a Squadleader. Or how about just autokick the ****ers immediately on their first Sniper TK. Make it so TKing a Sniper automatically ejects you from the server. Problem solved.

If the devs made the sniper rifle like the tanks, only useable by the correct class there would be few fewer problems. Sniper class should be the ONLY people who can use sniper rifle. If they die, nobody else can pick up the weapon and use it except another sniper, much the same as tanks; if you are not a tanker you cannot get in a tank and drive it.

This is the simplest solution and would prevent the TK for the sniper rifle problem and the hangers-around problem that seems to ruin a lot of good gameplay.

I have had this happen to me before (yes I was a sniper too), there needs to be a mutator so that if you TK you can't pick up anything of the person you TKed drops. It won't take more than once or twice before the asshat figures it out and just waits for you to die of "normal" causes. And if not, they will probably get shot standing in the open, or if he tked you near spawn, you can drop your weapons off some where and pick his up while he is trying to pick up your former ones, then he will be left without a gun :p. Oh and the mutator should also disable "drop weapon because of hand damage" to stop those teamwounders from stealing your weapon but leaving you with theirs, sometimes nothing at all.

I like this idea or maybe someone who is tk'ed their weapons dont hang around they just instanly melt away. I would like more abilities to get rid of TK'ers and hand shooting though. Just for the record before someone calls me a hypocrit if I see you do this to a team member I will shoot you just the same. This is the only time I intentionally TK. If you want their weapon follow them around till they die.

I don't exactly know why, but RO seems to attract even MORE teamkillers than many more arcade and more mass appealing games like DoD. And they also tend to the really annoying type: Those that keep doing it for hours, come back anytime they get kicked and constantly brabble over the ingame voicechat. At least that's my impression.

We DEFINETLY need an easier to use and more effective and efficient votekick system with the next patch (easier to access, maybe a popup menu, less votes needed etc..)!

I think the amount of votes required is determined by the individual server settings, not the game itself. on a 32 player server, 10 votes should be enough to kick.

Esc -> Config -> Kick voting. I have accually been killed for my BOLT before. Some dude with a smg mowed me down, took my rifle, poped a couple of shots(only had like 1 1/2 clips left) and when he was done he swaped back to ppsh. This was done on 0% reinforce. Amazing how desperate ppl are at times.

Not only is the number of votes a problem, but the time a person is removed after a kickvote. If a player is being an "idiot" and the correct number of votes are FINALLY had to kick him....what does he do? Rejoin as soon as he is kicked and you can be sure that you'll never get a second kickvote to work. That person comes back, knowing that they've pissed people off and that they are "winning" by being a dick and will be worse than ever and know they won't be kickvoted.

A kickvote has to be dependent on ONE team. The team the "idiot" is griefing should be able to vote him off the server. As it is, it takes so many votes from both teams I've never actually seen it work.

Once the kickvote happens, ALL kickvotes should be enabled for at least a session ban, for the rest of that map. Or better, for the rest of that calendar day.

I remember being killed for a weapon way too many times. I usually do something to revenge for that; I was once hopping in front of that TKer all the time so he couldn't aim with the sniper he just looted after TKing me and man, I wish I could have remembered to take a screenshot of his complains. "omg u idiot ur ruining my line of sight" and such. :p

One possible 'fix' (yeah balblabla reguires too much coding\too much work\too unpractical\too unrealistic\insert your damm complaint here) would be a system like in RTCW\ET, that when someone TKs you the game itself asks do you want to file a complaint.

And when enough complaints (I guess it's around 5 default in ET) are filed the player is automatically kicked.

It is not a real solution for TK problem, but certainly it could possibly give the ability to get rid of those idiots bit more faster.

Sounds like an idea for a passive votekick system, they team kill you and you file your complaint to the game, and if a kickvote ever does get started, there will already be those votes added to voted needed for the kick.

In DoD (I think it's with the ManiMod Admin plugin or somesuch), there's an option to "fogive" a TK.
If you chose not to, the TKer will collect some points on his "bad behaviour account" and if that reaches a certain threshold, he will be auto-punished/kicked/buttslapped.

Kind of works like the RTCW system, just in reversal (so you actively have to forgive them, not actively punish them).

I would approve either system in RO, actually.

Something similair to that is in BF2. You can choose to forgive or punish a TK, naturally you get the idiots that punish even if you apologize and it was a clear mistake. But i'm thinking it would still work well, especially here where the community is abit more mature. ;)

On Odessa in a pub game recently, I had to repeatly kill our russian team leader since he never (not once) used his smoke nades to help us, and did not react to repeated screams for "smoke please" or "mind switching classes" either. In fact he did not throw a single smoke nade all map long.

He eventually switched classes after getting killed for them.

I normally don't tk, but if the difference between a desperate team struggle for survival, or a glorious victory, are those smoke nades in the hand of some newbie or moron, his deads are acceptable IMHO.

On the server I usually play on I am usually MG. People are aware I do a great job and leave me alone. Occasionally you get some random muppet who joins 1st time with his bolt and 0 pts who fancies hisself an MGer and shoots me for mine. After I respawn he usually does not live long enough to use it, if the enemy doesnt get him then I will.

The only people I will tk for stuff is squad leaders who do not use their smoke, ever. Once on Kurland Kessel, there was a mini mutiny as 3 people myself included fragged the muppet SL all at once, smoked the objective and capped it.

I remember this being a big problem when the game first came out.... please dont say it has come back D:

It never really left. Maybe they take a break now and again when they find some roadkill to play with. Killing for weapons, spawn killing, goading people into tking so they get banned, and the rest still comes up. I used to respond but now I figure it's just not worth it. :)
