Look, let's not kid each other. A game doing a discount a month after the EA launch means one of two things.

Dev is starved for money or dev sees game is dead in the water and gives it a little jolt to revive it.

My bet is on the latter, seeing the daily peak players drop every other day.
It simply does not instill a lot of confidence in what you're doing when you're willing to run this sort of thing so early on.

You must not be used to how TWI handles these things. TWI have put all their games on discount for EVERY SINGLE CONTENT UPDATE EVER. I can't think of a single time TWI have had a significant update to one of their games without some sort of discount. You're being much too cynical.

This is just a good way to revitalize the hype for the game. A content update alone is pretty good to get people talking about KF2 more but coming along with a discount does it even better.

I bought the Deluxe Edition for $40 and was explicitly told on the store page the price would not change before release.

Going on a temporary discount and having a permanent price change are 2 different things.

The base price will never be reduced during the EA period, but that doesn't mean it won't have a temp discount.

That's the most bull**** semantics I've heard since "I did not have sexual relations with that woman."

Ten to one the people complaining about the discount would've bought it at launch anyway.

"Revitalizing" the hype just one month after the EA release with a price drop just made the majority of the current playerbase feel like they wasted their money for buying the game on April 21st.
Most of people who bought the game lost interest for a reason, the online player count didn't drop because of the price (because they have bought it already anyway).

I just hope TWI realizes that people are losing interest because of the lack of content. Maybe releasing updates in small bursts instead of making people wait too long for big updates would be better.

Kind of a low blow to people that paid money to support the EA in a very incomplete game. Not super cool at this stage IMO.

However I paid the money I did for the deluxe to support TWI since I enjoyed KF1 so much. While this game appears to be straying far from the formula of KF1 with its faster pace and spammy gameplay; I have no regrets paying a premium to support the team with KF2 either. Even if things dont get better and I simply go back to KF1, I still have no regrets paying full price to support this team.

Why are we in the EA? I gave my money so I could help make KF2 the best it could be through testing and feedback. Those who signed up just to play with a small piece of the game early are sure to be disapointed.

Not expecting discounts on any steam title is hilarious.

I agree.

It's.....early access.....would you rather they mass spam the game with content making the game potentially prone to crashing and never working again for a long time? Besides this is another reason why we have custom maps. If that's not enough then simply experiment yourself. If that's not enough then don't play the game until there is enough content to satisfy you. As far as I'm concerned Early Access is to help make the game as polished as possible. The game has only been out for a month after all.

Cool the temper tantrums, children. Doing daily deals on days of large content updates is pretty common. They said that the MSRP of the game wasn't going to be changing over the course of early access, I don't know why you'd assume that meant no occasional discounts, especially on Steam of all places.

They publish a new map, two character models, and offer a small discount and people STILL find a reason to complain.

But of course! They could have bought a whole half of a starbucks coffee with those few dollars!

Did not know this. Thanks for the info!
I was trying to make up my mind on what to think of the situation. Your post was most helpful.

Okay.... can someone explain me why are these kids mad that the game has a discount, with angry emoticons and stuff?

Do they feel robbed that they paid a few more bucks? Or something? I dont get it, im glad it got a discount, i have an excuse to buy it for a friend.

Ohhh noo, the world is coming to an end, time to get steam on the line for a refund because they decided to have a daily deal that reduces the cost of the game by a whole $4! The player base is low in this niche game and i can see the game slowly..cripplingly slowly....not really moving at all away! However will i not care...**** it, don't have the energy to be sarcastic.

Steam daily deals are a thing and have been a thing for a long time. They often pop whenever there is an update to get more people interested in buying the game. Often it's a low % off and people will just look for those low discounts just to justify their "i don't buy games at full price even if i really want it" mentality.

Lets look at steam for all the other discounted game failures. Oh no, shadowrun Hong Kong is on sale for 33% off, that is going to fail before it even launched! Oh no, so was GTA 5! And a ton of other games! Oh wait, it's just steam and everything is on sale all the time.

I found if anything some of the only games that don't have sales are the ones that haven't made their money back and can't do a sale. Seriously, can we all agree to quit the bell, whistle, and failure alarm bull**** every time the company sneezes? Please? It's not informed and cautious customer opinion, it's just stupid fear mongering.
