32-bit applications are limited to a max of 2GB RAM.

Uuhhh, they aren't. XD Since I didn't know how much of the address space could be used, I googled and it's either 2 or 3, at least on Linux. Looks like we're both wrong. I was thinking in terms of address space and forgot about things.

Back on topic. The thing is that this comp is so old I'm pretty sure it's beyond being useful. Pretty sure there's a pivot point in the required specs, and this well on the other side. Something actually closer to being able to run it would be a lot more useful.

I don't know why people just don't wait on TWI to do thier jobs.

32bit can handle 4GB ram, and that includes VRAM from the graphics card.

2GB RAM nowaday is not enough. well, not for gaming.

get you sh1t together, where did this 2GB come from?

kliziflip15 so i can run in on 32 bit ???????? ANSWER YES OR NO

i dont care if i run it on 15 fps

The game needs RAM. 32 bit only supports 2 GB (from previous posts). Therefore,

Invest in a new computer instead of a new game

Some people aren't even able to launch the game, and it's possible that this is because the game only supports 64-bit right now.
So possibly not.

except you are wrong...

I ve played MP games and newer SP games just fine on lower settings and honestly, most even newer games are just playable and just about everything would run with 4 GB RAM on my PC...

it may be well beyond official lowest requirements but it is quite close to the actual requirements assuming your computer is clean and you arent ru nning unneccesarry applications...honestly if STEAM wasnt running it would JUST work to be playable...and as said...main issue were minifeezes (from lack of RAM). the FPS wasnt half bad and once whole map is fully loaded the game is borderline playable with any perk...

@Evenfighter: I can not answer that question...go ask people who actually have 32-bit system

I ll try get my hands on a spare 2 gb...and i am fairly certain then it will run smoothly...but yeah for now, 2 gb is russian requirements AKA for those who can live with 3 minutes ofl oading time and survive wave 1 without dying so all map locations can load

You must not have googled correctly then because the default for a 32 bit application on a 32 bit OS is 2GB without specialized tweaking. This is referring to Windows specifically because that's what it relates to. Linux is going to be a different story.

You can upgrade your OS from 32 bit to 64 bit on the same OS using the same key. There's no reason if you can't run it on your 32 bit OS you can't just grab a 64 bit ISO from Microsoft and use that key.

Watched a friend play it on his rig with an ancient bloomfield i7 and a 970.

Clearly the game isnt very CPU intensive since it was buttery smooth at 62 FPS. He has a 144hz monitor so we were kinda sad it was capped at 62.

Try enabling variable framerate, like others have mentioned. That caps out at 90 FPS instead.

32 bit Windows can adress 4 GB of RAM, but usually only 2 GB for a single application. This can be increased to 3 GB, but then leaves only 1 GB for the OS if a game takes up 3 GB.

Windows keys work for both 32 and 64 bit versions and the .iso's are officially available from the Microsoft homepage, so do yourself a favor, grab the 64 bit .iso for your OS, upgrade it and add a little extra RAM to your machine ;)

Some people are still stuck on 32-bit because they buy pre-builts and just don't want to mess with their OS, but is there any disadvantage to using 64-bit? Like, any reason at all why 32-bit should even still exist?

Some older 32-bit applications (like really old) may not like a 64-bit OS. But generally no, there aren't any downsides.

It can be increased past 2GB if the app was compiled with LAA (large-address aware) flage (which most modern apps that could need it probably are) and the actual CPU is 64-bit. Then you just need to edit boot.ini (XP) or use bcdedit (Vista+) to change Windows setting.
Windows keys work for both 32 and 64 bit versions
As long as it's Vista or later; XP used different keys for 32/64 (and I wouldn't recommend XP64 to anyone anyway).

EDIT: Looks like there will be no 32-bit version of KF2 (not only for memory reasons).
