Is the tournament with your so beloved Scrn Balance or Vanilla KF?

It's his TSC project, so yeah, ScrnBalance is a must.

I don't see why you are advertising KF2 copies when you have no idea how long it'll take to release. This could be 6 months down the line for all we know. Also, i'm really not suprised after being turned down your mod being in the official tournament and making your own.

Don't see this as a dig, just thoughts i'm putting up to get them out. Someone is bound to say something anyway.

Nope, definitely a dig. Saying that is the equivalent of when people say "no offense, but [...]". You added an extra sentence with the sole purpose of belittling the tournament.

I wish the tournament didn't have ScrN's gameplay changes, that would be something I'd definitely join in on.

Some stuff I noticed with how KFG did stuff that could be definitely improved on plus some stuff I noticed with the rules page you linked:

  • No livestream? That's no fun!

  • Add large amounts of spectator slots (but disabling spec chat/voting/etc) on the actual servers so people can watch live!

  • You should have a livestream (I know it's the first point) and have commentators that are knowledgeable about the game. There are tons in North/South America/EU/Australia that could help!

  • The deposit idea is kinda lame. If anything, this tournament should simply move people up if a group is x minutes late. If the next party isn't ready have some kind of intermission thing going on.

  • Prohibition of weapon skins is silly and shouldn't be punished. I don't see why this is even a rule.

  • Gunslinger should be a voteable option, like the specimens (Maybe even all ScrN changes?).

  • TSC simulation is kinda lame but I get the reason why it's there. Timing score thing should be looked a little more as it's not a 'fair' scoring system.

  • My largest issue is the self-governing of the servers. No official people to judge games sounds like a bad idea.
Apart from that, the post on this thread should not say "no entry fee", you should mention the deposit. Also you should proof read your writing when trying to do official stuff (rules especially)! Having random grammar issues/mistakes takes away from the legitimacy of the thing you're trying to push!

(I don't like the idea of selling something [KF2] that doesn't 'exist' yet , but that's just me.)

Good luck with the tournament!

Let's make things clear.

Why I started this tournament?
I made a decision to stop modding KF1. So this is my final contribution to KF community. Get ScrN-fans together and have fun of playing their favorite game - that's a purpose of this tournament. This is the first and final tournament hosted by ScrN community.

Why TSC? Why ScrnBalance?
KFG is already hosting vanilla tournaments. I see no reason to make another copy of the same thing.
TSC is based on ScrnBalance and can't be used without it. Besides, why would I give such a great prize for those who dislike my work?..

KF2 is not released yet.
That's the point. Complete the tournament, turn the page and wait for KF2. It would be worse if KF2 will be released during the tournament, when participants must wait for games being finished while others already can switch to KF2.

Refereeing.
All games will have referees, who'll be spectating and recording or streaming gameplay videos. TSC Simulation games won't be streamed, because it could give unfair advantage for the team who is playing second. But those videos will be uploaded on YouTube later.

Live Commentaries.
This is one of the best things KFG did in their tournaments. But unfortunately none of us are native English speakers, and having bad commentaries is worse than having none imo. We'll try to find commentators for playoff games, but no promises.

Prohibition of custom weapons and weapon skins.
Custom weapons are prohibited because not all players are familiar with them and that could give an unfair advantage to those who have experience with those weapons.
"Skinned" weapons are prohibited because balance job hasn't made for them. Most of them are useless garbage, but some are overpowered. Like Handcanon weighting only 2 blocks and Katana having radial attack.

Deposit Sum
I'd really want to avoid this, but unfortunately removing this will end really bad:

- Guys, do you want KF2?
- Sure we do.
- Then let's sign up for the tournament.
...
- Guys, we need to play a tournament game!
- Nah, I'm not in the mood today.
- "Player is currently offline, they will receive your message the next time they log in"
- I can't right now, I'm playing Dota!

^ That would happen with most teams. I'd rather get only 8 teams, which are ready to play, than getting all 16, where 10+ of them don't give a **** about the tournament.

Nobody will get disqualified for being late for 5-10 minutes. Most of us have family/work/school and other real life "distractions". And it is absolutely normal.
Deposit sum ensures that team plays all 3 scheduled matches during preliminary round. Not just loose first game and rage-quit the tournament.

Define "Skinned" weapons. You got me confused over there. Handcannon weights only 2 KG's by vanilla (and Katana having radial attack???).

What exactly are in your aspect "Skinned" weapons? Golden/Camo/Neon weapons? Clientside textures? What about the "Silver-Plated Mauler", a workshop reskin of the Steampunk Musket?

About difficulty: From Hard - HoE selectable right?

A thing I learned about your tournament rules is: No excuses are taken into account should a player leave the lobby. Take in hearth, that KF loves to crash after mapchange of certain maps (Hillbillyhorror).

With "Skinned" I meant " Golden/Camo/Neon".

Both teams decide on which difficulty they want their game to be played. If they can't make a decision (e.g. one team votes for Hard, other - HoE), then default (Suicidal) is selected. If team wants to play defensive style (i.e. staying at the base all the time), it should vote for HoE. If team wants to play offensive game (steal bases, trying to kill opponents etc.), then it could vote for Hard difficulty.

If player crashes, then he must reconnect as soon as possible and join his team at next wave. Crashes won't be punished. But crashes may not be used as an excuse of team being wiped out.

Three Tournament servers are up and running:
  1. EU Server @ scrn2.no-ip.org:7713, located in Germany.
  2. US Server @ lolisandstuff.no-ip.org:7807, located in Boston, MA.
  3. Canadian server @ archive01.org:7707, Password: lolz
Click here for Official Server List.

Everybody is welcome to join in and try the game before signing in. All 3 servers are running 24/7, so you are welcome get a team and do some practice games.

There are two already signed teams and 3 more are pending. So can invite them for a practice game.
Click here for team list and/or signing up.
Besides, you can contact me for a practice game against Scrake Naders team. ScrN team won't participate in the Tournament, because imo it is totally wrong for tournament's staff to play against simple members, even if games are played fair. But at least we could have fun of beating your ***es during the practice

Today: First Tournament Game!

Today, Sunday, September 7 20:00 CEST (18:00 UTC), team Foreign Legion is playing with Killing Floor Mercenaries!
This is the first game in Preliminary Round and the first game in the whole Tournament, excluding practices.

Live stream will be available @ twitch.tv/IHateClots

If you are interested in this Tournament, then there are 6 team slots still available (9 teams already signed in + 1 pending). Signups are open until Sunday, September 14.

Team overview:
  • There are total 16 team slots available in the Tournament. Signups are open until Sunday, September 14.
  • 9 teams already joined the Tournament. One more signup is pending.
  • Only 2 of 9 teams were familiar with TSC mod before the Tournament. Others have learned it during practice session.
  • More than a half Tournament members came from vanilla KF and had no experience in ScrnBalance.
So if you are good KF players, then learning TSC basics will take only a few games. We are offering a practice game for every new team signed into the Tournament.

Only one game (2 maps) per week. A whole week for practice before the game. And a chance to win Killing Floor 2. What are you waiting for?..
