EDIT: Updated with a new version where I fixed a few lighting errors, added a shortcut in the middle to get past the button controlled doors if teammates are unhelpful, and added a trigger which informs players about the portal shortcuts. Also fixed a few bugs.

Special thanks to Falidell for his trigger pack, and Argentina for providing the glados model/texture.

Description of map:
A rather big portal themed map with a few "fun" features:

- Button controlled moving platform for a quick escape from the specimens (or, not so quick)

- A tube you can use to travel accross the map in seconds. Causes heavy falling damage so use only on 80+ HP or so.

- Button controlled lift which you can use to gain access to a "suprise" deployer. Can be triggered every 120 seconds. Spawns a random weapon OR a fleshpound(s).

- Included portals near the spawn which teleport you to the trader but they are only accessable during trader time. Due the large distances I thought this was the best solution in case of late joiners (or people who died). I tried to make the spawn area hard to camp on so you cant just stay there.

This is the final version of the map, fixed all issues from the Beta and made the suprise deployer drop random items/specimens instead of the few fixed ones I had. Also added a few spawns here and there to make it a little harder for some areas that were too easy to hold out in.

I will submit this for whitelisting now.

Could be just me but KF doesn't seem to detect the map. I've put the files in the correct folders but doesn't appear in my map list.
I've noticed that KF doesn't generate a .ucl file in the system folder like most of the other maps I've installed.

the map is not working unfortunately.

If you want to open it in Editor to get a critical error.


OOOOH sorry guys forgot to add the trigger pack. Will include it in the download.

Stupid me, even tested it on my server first to make sure it works but I already happened to have the trigger pack there so ofc I had no errors, but any other server who doesnt have it would.

Just drop the trigger pack in System folder of your server and its good to go.

That room in the first screenshot, crawlers/stalkers always get stuck in that top spawn, like there's an invisible floor where they should fall through. Also, some of the door icons don't checkmark from X when opened.

Overall, I love the map, though!

Thanks for the input, I cant believe I forgot to test that crawler spawn before releasing this :S

All fixed now tho, but I dont want to change the map name so if you downloaded it before 13.6.2011, please redownload and replace the faulty version.

Encountered a little bug on the map tonight.
On the moving platform/button (one in 2nd screenshot), a player was standing on the button, and was either AFK or being a pest.

He got votekicked off the server, however the button stayed pressed down.
So the platform was stuck in place.

Hmm sadly thats something I cant fix without removing the platform, but at least it doesnt happen very often (right?). However there are 3 alternative routes past the platform so maybe its not that big of a problem anyway. ( either go to the right and circle around, or during trader time use the portal teleporters in spawn to get to the trader. Third way would be going all the way around from where you came but thats pretty long walk :p)

Yeah only has happened once in about 50 (or more) plays of the map.
The only other real annoying problem is with the deep pit area.

The one just after the bridge that goes over the slime pool (when coming out of spawn and to the left)

A few zeds have fallen into that pit, anything from clots to FPs.
Grated while it's not much of a problem with the weaker zeds, as a nade or 2 gets rid of them.
It has happened a few times (perhaps 10 or so) that the Patriarch has fallen down there.

And since I have only played this map on a 35 player hard server, the Patriarch does have quite a high health level.

And more often the not if that happens, even after he gets nade spammed, pipebombed, and 1001 rockets,shells,bullets shot down at him, he still lives.

We have ran out of ammo, and after 10 or so minutes of wondering what to do\general mucking about, we all usually just jump down there to suicide and get the game over with.

Not sure if the bottom of the pit does damage, however if a clot can survive for more than 5 minutes, you can guess how long Patches if going to live for (when he has hard health + health from 30+ players)

I didnt make the map with 30 player servers in mind so the damage volumes are not enough to kill the specimens with such high health. In normal games they should kill them instantly unless Ive missed something.

I might be making an updated version of the map after Im done with my project for WPC, to fix all the minor issues Ive noticed and make it work better for big servers. Might even think about something else for the bridge part because unlike I hoped players arent rly helping each other to get through it so it can get annoying... Also should probably add a message saying theres shortcut portals in spawn cause people dont seem to notice them.

Updated the map with a new version (KF-StillAlive-v1)

Changes from the previous version:
- Added a new hallway through the middle which works as a shortcut to the other side in case teammates arent helping with the button controlled doors.
- Added a trigger which informs players about the portal-shortcuts in spawn, because most of the new players didnt seem to notice them.
- Hopefully fixed the bug where specimens wouldnt be killed when falling down on the pit.
- Improved lighting and fixed a few lighting errors in certain walls.

honestly i didnt rly notice a change in the map,where is that newly added hallway you talking about?
the pad works great (now)
So far playing this map you either love it or hate it,i guess theres nothing in between - it has a feeling of being so far away and being left alone when running around the corridors its close to depression :D
