And how ignorant of you to believe that everyone will offer you support because they will like your work. You expect everyone to give you support and praise you? You didn't even do anything. You "ported" a map by converting files, and you've "used" Unrealed for "years," yet you still can't map? That much is beyond me.

Additionally, porting a map from another game exactly refuses to take into account the game mechanics of the game which you are porting it TO, and ignoring something that instrumental is just...really stupid. If the map plays well, then it plays well, although that's up to the players to decide. If it doesn't, it's because the game wasn't designed for the one you ported it to.

Anyway, my point is don't bash people who don't offer you support. It's the same thing as insulting someone who doesn't share your opinion. The public isn't here to feed you with a silver spoon and hold your hand. The internet is a wide and nasty world out there, so don't be surprised if someone thinks that a little bit of file conversion and object shifting in Unrealed makes a shoddy map.

Well, I made it perfectly clear how good I am at mapping in my first post. If you can't read and understand given information properly, then you're the ignorant one, not me.

enough with the trolling already. i could care less how good the mapper is, i just want to see goldeneye ports in my killing floor :p

its not trolling, shrink has a good point. a 100 percent port of goldeneye maps isnt much fun:

1. i played those maps for so many years, playing an exact replica down to the very dimensions and textures isnt my idea of a GREAT map. id rather play someone elses version of it with about the same layout, with their own little twists and creativity added to it.

2. KF is a entirely different game than goldeneye, thus the maps have to made to fit KF: widened hallways, fixing possible camping areas, etc. back then it was just 4 players VS each other, now its 6 players VS hundreds of zombies.

3. signing your name as the author of the map when it is a direct 100 percent port of someone elses map isnt honest. taking game files then converting them and then calling them your own. sorry but thats low.

I don't owe any of you anything. I don't owe Rare anything either. I map and game for fun. Maybe some of you need to remember why you map and game...Dextronaut's first comment was completely pointless and rude to be honest. If I went round telling people my next map's going to piss on theirs, then I'd expect people to think I'm a nasty person :)

I make maps for fun. I don't know why either of you feel the need to get upset about my map or my attitude. Yesterday, Dextronaut joined in with my game and was being quite friendly, offering support for my mapping and asking for the BSP cuts of Temple that I've done. Today I asked him how he's getting on with Temple, and much to my confusion he accuses me of having no morals and plagairising Rare's work by re-making Library; all while he works on his re-make of Facility from the same game.

I enjoy playing this map, and any other map to do with Goldeneye. Dextronaut's version of Facility is ok but I'd prefer a more accurate re-make, and to be honest I think its worse than the original GE version.

Constructive criticism is great. Snide comments are completely pointless. Now this thread has bad vibes.

Anyway, this thread is kind of redundant now. I'm not putting any more work into this version of Library/Stack/Basement, so it might be worth a moderator locking or deleting this thread because I've started from scratch and have a new version of Library up for download here:

making maps is not all about the skill of the mapper. who cares if porting is easier then making a map from scratch? if nobody did that then there would be far less ports cuz it's too hard to make a map identical to another existing one and not have it be called a copy and paste port.

if the man wants to make a port map of one of the best games ever made then let him do so in peace. making comment about HIS comments is off topic and stupid. he wasn't demanding support and if you think he wont get it then you're wrong. cuz guess what, i support him.
