KF-OVIAMOIRE BETA 2

this is my second map. i was trying to go for a oceanic bioticslab under a siberian winter type feel. you know, the usual. what ive ended up with is creating a very expansive map with a nice flow for just about every type of player. the atmosphere is cold, and lonely. for some reason they just abandoned the place. and now it is your turn to wander the corridors of Oviamoire.

i fixed the missing stair. aswell as the hall of mirrors. if there are any more glitches let me know.

put .rom in maps folder. thats it.

ps: enjoy the shotgun while you can, im taking it out of the final after some bugs are found. think of it as a room cleaner.

Just fired it up in the ed, it looks really good :) just one thing, and it's the snow outside, i think it would look alot better with some terrain, and that room with the shiny emitters looks a bit odd^^ i like it, but maybe add some more particles.

But overall I totally love the biotics-style and cleanness of the map

But overall I totally love the biotics-style and cleanness of the map

i just learned terrain and was thinking of adding some terrain there but so far everyone that ive played with on this map spawns then runs straight forward and down the stairs. so weighing things. i had the same predicament with the flooded room with the silos. i was like, "why do all this work with the fluid surfaces and emitters if no one is going to stick around here very long?", thus the trader down there to get people to go down there one in a while.

so we'll see about it. as for the maze area with the crazy blue smoke going on, at first i was going to leave that area pitch black with some weapon spawns. but then no one would go there at all! (like the basement in west london). so i decided on the weird smoke which doesnt make any sense at all haha but still obscures the vision enough to make non-commando's panic a bit. ill see about adding more particles.

bioticslab is my fav, and i am trying to keep the map clean. its very hard not throwing a bunch of random static meshes around and blood.

The inside reminds me of a Fallout vault, especially with the simulated playground area. <--- a good thing. :)

Yes I would love more outside action going on in this level. Terrain ftw! Snow looks awesome, I clap for you. ;) I'd like to see a blizzard (all Hell breaks loose in a frozen Winter) style map now that I mention it.

One thing that kills me is the 'freeze chamber' or hallway w/e, it is way to bright and detracts from the overall experience. Running forward through it can blind you and not in a fun/challenging way. :-/ The lighting in the 'fog' in that room is just too bright and rotation of the effect upon camera turn is too noticeable imo.

Other than that, this map has HUGE potential! Just keep piling on the TLC. :)

thank you! i wanted to make that area different from the rest of the map, to break away from the whole color scheme and coldness of the map. at first i was going to do the usual biotics lab theme so im glad i didnt do that.

im working on a map that might fit what youre wanting to see.

im not really sure what to do with that room. i wanted to make it dangerous to be in there, but still slightly able to look around, im planning to rework that part of the map. i might even change it to pipes spewing down water (like a broken sprinkler system). so ill see.

Other than that, this map has HUGE potential! Just keep piling on the TLC. :)

thank you! im doing some more work on it right now. adding another trader aswell which brings it upto 6 traders now? the map is becoming really huge!
