V11 Is out and ready to download! I was able to fix the map and everything should be running smoothly. :D

If there are any issues with the build please let me know.

Just an out of bounds spot that's been in the map for a while.

I was going to report it at final release, since I assumed it'd be easy to find by players, being on the ground floor without need of a DB jump to access. I guess nobody reported it.

Haha sometimes the easiest things get missed, like me somehow not knowing those meshes didn't have collision. It will be fixed in the next/Final update here

If anyone else knows of any bugs and or exploits still present on this map please report them! :)

Looks like V11 is not on the SkillzServer redirect which is causing a failure to download on my servers. I'll have to disable the map until it's available on the redirect. Anywhere I can grab V10 in the meantime?

Still having problems with this particular map. Even though I see "KF-HotelZed_BetaV11" on the Skillz redirect clients still fail to download it when they try to join my servers. Interestingly on the site it's named KF-HotelZed_BetaV11 but when you try to join the game it tried to download kf-HotelZed_BetaV11 (notice the non-capital letters KF). I think it may be case sensitive and that may be the problem. Another interesting thing is that when you download this map the archive is named with a lowercase kf but the extracted map is named with an uppercase KF. I've run many custom maps on my server including previous versions of this map and I've never run into this issue before.

OK I figured this out. Turns out the problem all stemmed from the downloaded .7z file being named kf- instead of KF-. As a precaution to make sure I always typed the name of the map correctly I'd always copy/paste the map name from the downloaded file into my PCServer-KFGame.ini files. Because I copied the name from the .7z file I entered kf-HotelZed_BetaV11 into those instead of KF-HotelZed_BetaV11 the redirect download didn't work due to it being case sensitive. Once I updated all of those files to KF- all of my servers are now working correctly.

As a suggestion to avoid this sort of confusion in the future you might consider naming the .7z and the .kfm files exactly the same.

I actually don't know. I tried everything I could think of to fix it.
  • Replaced all meshes and materials
  • Removed all lights to see if that was the cause
  • Removed the emitters
  • And a bunch of other stuff

In the end after eliminating all of the variables I could think of. I ended up having to move the WHOLE MAP over into a blank template to fix it. :/

Everything is as it was in the other broken one, but now it works. Thats my fix at least lol

Its a bummer too, because I have zero ideas on how to fix it without having a group of testers.

So I will just state this. All future builds will be released to try and rectify this issue. If you download and host and or play it solo PLEASE post how it plays here so 4 months of work on this map does not go down the drain.

It could be that we're using too many statics, and TWI's statics are all joined into single meshes. Most of their big floor sections are purpose-made. If this is the case, just turn FleX off for custom map servers.

I hate to say it, but I'm not going to stop making modular maps just because it breaks FleX, as great as FleX looks. It's fun.

It's cool to see how far this map has come. The early versions were so ****ty. Really just thought KF-hotelzed was another trash map. Glad to see you stuck with it, the outcome has been worth it.

not sure if this will help you but i fixed my flex issue by replacing the blocking voloumes, something about them messed up flex

Meshes aren't the issue, scoot might be on to something with the blocking volumes causing the issue.

I did release this map as I worked on it so the community could give feedback as I was making it, so those earlier versions were very much WIP.

You should work on your constructive feedback and give me reasons as to why it was so ****ty lol, just saying that and that you thought it was a trash map doesn't give me much to work off of. Detailing what was wrong and actually telling me that here in the thread helps me and all the other level creators a TON.

I need some volunteers to help test the final version!

I want this tested on a server so only people that have servers request the final build.

I have Churo testing right now with some of his friends but would like some others help as well!
