That's right, It's Helms Deep from LOTR. I did my best to duplicate it. Might be a few areas that need fixing. But It's on it's way. I know that it would look better with rain but it makes the map size waaaay too big. As always, all opinions are welcome. Unfortunately, it's a little big in MB for my taste but it couldn't be avoided. Let me know what you think!!!

- Still has the standing fleshpounds and everything that was already there(for those who liked it the way it was)

- Removed standing Fleshpounds
- Removed some of the lighting outside HelmsDeep
- Added SpawnVolume's inside Helmsdeep for difficulty(though I still don't know how I feel about that. lol.)
- Fixed a few glitches where the rocks weren't sealed correctly to the floor and made player fall through

Lighting looks weird since you gave it a clay / reddish overtone over the entire level. Maybe reduce the saturation and focus on improving the overall look.

If you are going to reserve the name HelmsDeep first out of I'm sure a couple remakes you'll want to do it justice :)

i tested this map today, the zeds are very easy they should spawn from more places, also on suicidal on wave 5 we were just waiting for 5 minutes for over 180 zeds.

also here are two places with invisible walls, i am standing at them

i like the atmosphere of this map, it is alot like the kf1 one, what about that army of fleshpounds, i think it just will lag players fps.

good job though, once this map matures i will make a gameplay video

I'll see if I can get the lighting a little cleaner. I made the light orange and didn't really mess with any other settings. I figured there wouldn't exactly be fluorescent lights during that time period. lol. Thanks for pointing it out though.

I haven't ran into any walls there. But i'll look into it. If you think the fleshpounds will help I can get rid of them. They were there just to look like there was an army at your front door. And I'll try to add some more spawns... But the only place I can really add more is inside helms deep itself. Don't know if I should do that one. But I do see your point in it's kind of easy. I'll try to do something about that. Thanks for the input!!!

good to see some old kf1 maps being revived,my problem is neither of your maps will cycle in my server,i have 46 other maps with no problems,

Not that I'm aware of. A friend of mine is able to run them on his server. I'll ask him if he has had any problems and what he might have done to fix it.

Just got with my friend. He said you have to add them to the redirect server.

oh lol didnt know someone was already making a port. i was working on one too. if you want, i can give you the static mesh for the fire torches, fire baskets, and flags. it would be alot nicer than those lights that you have.

I would name this something other than Helms Deep since it doesn't have much of any relation right now other than the name.

Sorry, but it is just the truth with the current state of this map.

  • The spawns are WAY to far away
  • You need to keep players within the walls, do not let them roam outside otherwise they can kite for days
  • The layout and actual representation of helms deep needs a lot of work if you want it done right
  • Rain needs to happen if you want it to be helms deep
  • Lighting, it is much to dark and much to orange. Helms deep is more of the dark blue full moon than orange.
  • Props, there is almost no props to give the level life
  • Gameplay, it is much to slow and easy at this rate.

If you truly want the map to live up to Helms Deep then you have a lot, Lot of work ahead of you.

Sorry to disagree Liquid,we have played this map on suicidal with a full team and apart from the issues Gormag already is aware of we have found it to actually be better than KF1's version,and as in KF1's,version,you could run around outside and kite as well,i wouldnt change it just fix the known issues,sorry but that is my opinion.

I am just going off the version I played withting the server. I believe it was the most updated. there were some 50 zombies left and it took a good 2 minutes until we saw them.

I never played this map on kf1 so forgive me for not comparing it to that. I am comparing it to what I would think a Helms Deep map should contain and I tend to get carried away with what I expect from things lol

No problems Liquid,i own KFL and i have 156 maps on kf1,if you have kf1,go try helmsdeep,the ip for my USA server is 64.94.101.166:7707,votemap from the dropdown so you can see the similarities,i think Gormag has done a great job.and the color scheme i think is probably pretty close to that time period where everything was made of clay.My fellow kfl players enjoyed it on suicidal

I have fixed the delay in zeds with the V3. After I get everything done I will make a Rain and Day version. I have saved the one I did with rain when I started so I know how to do it. It will be a larger file size but it will be available. I just want to get the kinks out of it before I worried about making it look pretty. But I am glad you care enough to voice your opinion. It's always good to hear what people think.
