Wrong. So far, Maul is one of the only people on here who I have seen say the things that should be said about a map. Bashing a map is different than pointing out its flaws, and if it has many, then that's the fault of the mapper and saying "this is wrong, and so is this, and this," is not bashing.

If he decides this map, for example, is okay but could use a lot of work, or thought that it sucked, I wouldn't have a problem with it, as long as he gave concrete reasons. If a map sucks for specific reasons, then it's a bad map. If the critique focuses on saying the map sucks but fails or contradicts itself at saying how or why, it's probably bashing.

I find that Maul is oftentimes saying what I'm not (I don't really post on here anyway). Many custom maps just fail in at least a couple of areas, but telling someone that it's good to protect their ego or be nice would hurt them more in the long run. If they decide to stop mapping because of poor reviews, well, that's too bad.

There's a bit of collision weirdness in the "Jungle"-esque bit outside, you can hop into the trees and behind the fence and get stuck in invisible blocking volumes. Also maybe some sort of visual cue that you can't just wander off into the trees in the first place like a low fence would help.

Additionally people can climb up on the van and onto the computer consoles around the vat things (and get stuck in them again).

All in all great map, brings back memories!

Map exploits

There are a number of ways to exploit this map.

When you drop down from the top, you can go either way to just stay above the specimens, and they won't reach you. I don't know why this map is whitelisted, but I removed it from my server for that reason. People tend to abuse the spots.

I currently can't provide a screenshot, but will do that in a day or two.

Tried the map but wasn't impressed. Seems all everyone has to do is wait in the men toilets waiting for the mobs to amble through one by one. And I got a million other better things to do than hang around with five other blokes in the gents for half an hour.

it was my first map, and for a first map it is pretty damn impressive. you can wait in the mens toilets, gets pretty boring though. so if you like, drop down the hole in the floor in the back of the bathroom. the map is very intense, everytime i play it, its pure madness. but like EVERY map, if you camp in a room with everyone, its going to be boring, bioticslab, offices, etc.

yes they wont reach you, but how do you get to the trader without dropping down??? eventually you run out of ammo, so not a very good camping spot. once you drop down, thats it, no way back up, unless you die. people who do abuse this should be removed, not the map.

PS: im thinking about going back and making the map even more hard.

PPS: just remember, if you want to camp the vents, that means you lose out on trader, ammo, and kills.

You dont have to camp in one area to get kills. Only noobs do that. Its fun to explore around and fight in all areas of the map, that's what the mapper intended.

Also there are many exploits in all maps so TW shouldn't white list any of them. Even in the factory maps there are exploits, so lets just say all the maps sux and we should black list all of them. ;)

I love this map btw

First time I played this map me and my squad were so lost man like **** then we found how to get into the compound then ammo then **** just hit the fan.

thats what makes it a really fun map. when you start, no matter how many times its been, you get the feeilng like youre progressing - start on the roof, get to the vent, get inside, shoot up zombies. once youre inside its just pure mayhem. ppl quickly learn teamwork on the map.

but then there is the other side of the coin where ppl stay in the vent and "farm" to me its not farming because they have to drop down to get to the trader and there is no way back up. also, there is no ammo supply. and the number of zombies isnt very great. if youre really going to farm, go to kf-farm.

Maybe you could make a load of physics volumes that gently suck people into and down the vents (vents have fans after all)?

Or a scripted killing volume that goes off now and again hitting the roof and striking down the campers, complete with the Goldeneye warning alarm and 8-bit explosion effects like on the N64? :D

The boring option would be adding a few hidden specimen-only routes back up to the roof (jump pads ftw).

Lol man I was so lost we were like how the f**** we get in then we dropped in the vent next min like 60 zombies all over lol you shoulda heard us on the VOIP

hahaha, thats when its a fun map. i just got to work out the vent area more, because not every player is like us. i love getting into the thick of the action and just blasting away, turning around seeing more, blasting them too. constant action is where KF maps need to go.

I love the map and that it has a kind of an "objective-based" feel.

very well said man. i have a very hard time telling people whats up about the map. i personally have never seen someone grief on the map, or exploit. most people just realize they have to drop down in order to get anywhere.

I couldn't agree more. After the last update I added most maps, including this one .. and I have noticed that not many people stay up.

I couldn't agree more. After the last update I added most maps, including this one .. and I have noticed that not many people stay up.

Hah, actually .. when I installed this map the first time, people who were new to it did camp in the vents. However, it seems to be that they find it to be boring (I didn't give the map much credit the first time) after a while.
