Description:
This is a port of the classic de_dust2 from Counter-Strike 1.6 and is my first ever map on Killing Floor. It is messy, it is buggy, but thats how a person learns.

Beta 2 Available.

Updates:
- Optimized Pathing (at least.. I hope so.. :D )
- A little more optimization for the map
- Brief Lighting Improvements


I hope zombies don't get stuck on boxes. At least, when me and my girlfriend tested 5-6 waves, they busted our ashes on the boxes. Some zombies still jump on your head. I hope I get some feedback on this one. I will continue testing though.

If somebody is interested, please check it out and if you have time, share what you think will improve it, and what I did wrong, since this is my first ever map on the unreal engine.

Also, I want to thank Murphy very much for taking his time to help a newbie like me by troubleshooting and showing me some smart techniques!

i'm saying that the DL is KF-Dust2-Classic-Night-b1.exe
an autoinstaller

just upload the map itself and i can play it
just the files, not an autoinstaller

not to mention, i play on Mac, and .exe is for Windows

So what. Many programs/mods/addons/maps are packed up in installers..

I really don't understand what the fuss is about, but if its that much of a problem to this community, I'll upload the ZIP.

By the way, Zip files can contain viruses too you know?

Keep your antivirus and firewall software up to date, instead of fearing from a harmless file from a person that posts his first map on the internet =)

I never even mentioned the word "virus"

Meaning I can't run or operate a .exe file

And yes, i know many mods etc are packed into an autoinstaller
But usually for SourceMods and games strictly PC
Not to mention, not everyone has Steam installed into the same place
Meaning that an autoinstaller for a custom map made for a game that could be installed into different locations on different computers could probably install the map file into the wrong location
Makes it pointless

Killing Floor is ported onto two different operating systems
If you make custom content for the game, and want to community to play it, wouldn't it make since to upload it in a way that allows both operating systems to download it and play it?

All I stated was that I'd like to play your map, but I can't, seeing as it's a .exe autoinstaller, and I'm on a Mac

Seen the statistic that only 5-10% of the whole steam community play on MAC, no, I haven't even began to think for MAC users.

Who is rude mate? You seem to take my posts the way you want them to be. Nothing in my post was intended to be rude/sarcastic or defensive =)

Oh dude may ask if you ported the textures and the static meshes separately and then placed them in your map or did you just port the whole map?

Thanks for giving it a shot.

But I am sure it is very messy and buggy, and also the lighting needs a lot of more tweaking. I noticed I accidentally moved an anti-portal sheet a bit off on one place near the double doors to "bomb A", and it makes the upper part of the wall not render :\

I will greatly appreciate any constructive criticism and feedback on what I did wrong, and what I need to do to make it more optimized. Also any exploits found will be good two:)

First off, very nice map. I really enjoyed it. [:
Hope to see it on the whitelist soon.
Lighting was well done, and personally, I like how you did the trader!

But very early into playing your map, I found a few exploitation areas.

Like a lot of people do in CS and Dust2, they camp, or hang around on the boxes, waiting for an enemy to come by, then pop one in their heads.
I tried that out. Found out, the specimens that come behind you, won't attack, they'll either stay there, or hop down and either: A) Go back up there, then do it all over again, or B) Hop up the boxes to where you are and line up for you, so you can get easy headshots. They'll still try to attack, but they're in a line, so you don't have to move at all, get a headshot, then the next one in line will come closer. If you hesitate on a headshot, you might get attacked, but unlikely for people boost leveling or just trying to get easy kills/headshots. (Picture below shows a better view of where this was going on at. The boxes in the middle, at my feet.)

Next thing I noticed is that specimens like hopping onto these boxes in the picture, but sometimes, they just like to chill there, not moving. Sirens seem to REALLY love this spot for some reason, but other specimens will do the same thing too. And once another specimen wants the box, they'll push the one who is already on it, off. Then the previous specimen will try to reclaim the box. Then they'll fight... to the death. The victor gets the box. Til another one wants it. Then it all happens again.

Then for about 5 minutes (before I got tired of it and just killed her), the Siren (Same one as in the picture before this one, because I got mad at her for just standing on the box, not doing anything, so I shoved her off!) just decided to dance on my head. Same place I'm at with the pictures of the crawlers, but walking on my head. Every once in a blue moon, she'd scream, but do no damage to me.

You're map is very well done, but I'd suggest doing something with all the boxes so they can't hangup specimens and be used for exploitation areas. [:

Hope this can help you out on cleaning up the map some more.

I love the map but the scale is way off. we're all giants in this map. :O If possible, I also would like to see additional spawn points since most of them can be camped. Everything else is awesome. Keep it up. :D
