Mission Briefing:
After receiving phone calls from Camp Crystal Lake organizers the local police force was sent in in search of a murderer which they believed was hunting down their young camp visitors. When the police force did not return the FBI was called in for further investigation and we have not heard from them since

Thanks for adding the tut stuff / map progress to the kf-wiki. Super interesting, had fun reading it and learned a lot about terrain. Keep it updated!

It's mostly finished just needs some inventive zombie spawn points / upgraded path network / detail work.

It should definately be finished by December. :eek:

The text layout is copied and pasted from one of my other maps. Crystal Lake isn't ready for a beta release but concidering i've only spent 2 days making it so far i doubt it'll be long till i finish it completely.

KF-Crystal-Lake is now available for download from Mod Db.

Please note that this version has known graphical issues which are currently being worked on. Examples, doors of varying sizes, SM disappearing and also not all trees having collision. This is still a "work in progress".

Info we want from you

Performance: To improve the FPS of the map cull distances has been set on all SM to a pretty low number. If you are finding that the popping is just too annoying / occurs too often / of your machine is stuggling please let me know.

Exploits / unbalanced gameplay: Are you finding any areas that are just way too easy and need changing or do you feel that the gameplay is unfair.

Weapons / Item placements: I've only added a few pickups but if there is any places you think would be better let me know.

Suggestions: I'm not fully satisfied with the car park area. If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve this area please say so.

Challenges: There's an area in the caves which could be concidered a camping spot, although I always got slaughtered in there with the later waves. Give it a go and so what waves you can survive on and how much dammage you took. (1-way dead end area)

New version of Crystal Lake available from Mod db.

This version has been submitted for whitelisting now that I've removed all known exploits and serious gameplay bugs.

Other than the odd bit of sceanery that might get added this is pretty much done so I imagine that this might be the last beta before it goes FINAL.

Do your best to find those Bugs/Exploits ;)

Good looking map, but wayyyy too red.
I'm not saying don't use red at all, but atleast use a second color to get some contrast going on. f.e. if you look at some of DamDam's maps you'll often see one major light color being used and one secondary accent light, that adds a lot to the scene.

Some of the trader paths are not correct. There is a trader on the other side of the mountain. You need to go thru the caves, or maybe up the mountains steps and down the other side. But the trader paths took us to a house on the lake with no way to pass. So by the time we figured out the real path, the trader time ended.

If you needs pictures i can get a few.

This is the main fault with Crystal Lake.

The trader path will ALWAYS follow the shortest route and it sees this as going through the Lake. If I remove the pathnodes in the lake then I remove one of the best features of Crystal Lake.

Unfortunately there is no way that you can block just the trader path and I've tried a few different methods in hope of fixing this issue but they didn't work. I will keep trying since the arrow does make it look like it could be either trader and they are miles apart making the issue even worse.

If you find any more problems don't forget to tell me and I'll see what I can do.
