wow...maybe because you were in solo? AND ANYONES COMP WILL LAG WITH 100 ZOMBIES AND ONLY 1 PERSON TO KILL THEM DUH!!!!!!

I will say this again nicely..... dont run ahead, you will spawn more zombies. thus lagging you. It doubles up the spawns

I just got done playing through it with a few friends. It was awesome. I definitely liked the change from the same old killing floor maps that have been out so far. Awesome way to change it up! Crazy hard!!!

I was first checking the map out on solo and noticed the epic skipping on my computer too. I didn't take me long to realize that it was because i was running ahead spawning all the ZEDs at once making it just too much too handle. Playing the map more tactically made the skipping go away and made it so i actually survived (longer anyways)

Any idea if it will/can make it to the white list? It would be a great map to level up on.

Ok imma say this 1 more time to be clear for everyone (including makimus)

If you run ahead without killing the zombies near you, you will spawn more zombies, thus doubling the spawns.

This will make the fps drop;

1- because the spawns double up, making it hell

2- what happens when you have 2 triggers pumping out zombies at the same time?

So, take your time in this map, its not like the other maps. Slow and steady wins the race, or map in this case

oh...... definitely

If you dont run ahead, its about 30-45 zombies in the map at once.

Dont trust the counter though untill your about 1/2 way through each wave. Except wave 1 (dont trust wave 1 counter at all)

the main zombies (counter zombies when you start) are being killed outside the map.

Have you ever think of spawning wave main zombie in the last room, so when you make it all the way to the final room, the room open, you have to kill all normal zombie before getting to the following wave area. That would be more interesting.

Oh, and I heard you're making the next map. While you're at it, could you break the map down? I understand that max is 5 wave so that it can run on all short/normal/long sv, but 5 is too small, and if I die, I have to wait too long to spawn again, especially wave 2,3,4, it takes around 20~25 mins for the team to clear things up, which is too long...

Maybe make it 8 wave max. It still runable on normal/long (honestly, i've never seen a short sv) and I wont have to wait too long :)

you cant. they way i end the wave is to kill the normal zombies in an outside room. only way to do it. especally when your using scripted triggers to add more zombies in.

Read this it will explain it more the whole process.

I can make the max wave w/e the heck i want. I made it 5 waves for this 1 because each wave is the length of 2 waves. 55 mins total of gameplay.

This was just a test mission for us, each mission will get better, and yes the wait will be shorter, but thats what you can expect for a mission map. just be patient

especially wave 2,3,4, it takes around 20~25 mins for the team to clear things up, which is too long...

its about a 10 min wait, cause the TOTAL gameplay is 55 min.

Actually we have beaten it in 30 mins before

you have to understand that we have completely customized the hell out of KF, in order to do this. TW makes it hard for us, and limits things. It would be nice to have triggered zombie volumes, and be able to spawn players in the middle of a wave. But we cant......yet

This was our 1st attempt, and each one will get better.

K. One more post... in the mean time. I just dont know where to put this, so it put it here.

The ammo issue. You said it happens on other maps, but I didnt remember seeing it on other map either.

And on candlesmoke, after I met the trader and buy full ammo, I then can pick up ammo with higher quantity (before meeting trader, it's 11 mag max for the scar, afterward, I can have 14 mag).

Just FYI, and if it should be at the bug report, well, I'll make one latter.

Oh, and why the name is candlesmoke? I see no candle.


EDIT: you seems mad at me :) I have an amazing ability of driving ppl crazy wherever I go :))

Anyway, I just so interested in mission map, played the hell out of theHive, but it got tired, and that map is still buggy. I think this kind of map combine the best of kf and l4d, and that's why I love it. PM me next time, i'll be more than willing beta test your next mission map.

most maps are badly named if you ask me. some are usual:

KF-Castle
KF-House
KF-Mall

although it is straight to the point, its forgettable and devoid of creativity, leading me to believe that the map is just as uncreative. it doesnt leave anything to the imagination.

then you have shock value:

KF-GanjaFarm420
KF-SpaceHerpes
KF-DeepThrust

it grabs your attention, but to me its tasteless (maybe im a prude?). if i were ever hired as a mapper for a project, and i was asked for some examples, id look awfully unprofessional telling them, "heres my latest, KF-ReachAround"

then you have what i think are some really good ones like:

KF-Aquastudy
KF-Icebreaker
KF-Nightfall

it sounds interesting and creative. it tells you a bit about the map without being as blunt as, "heres KF-Ship, youre on a ship." it also sticks in your mind, seperates it from all the other maps out there, but without having to be vulgar like the shock value titles.

Agree that name issue. But it;s tradition from CS age (maybe even older)

And what "Here kf-candlesmoke, you have some smoke from candle... Grrr where's my lighter???":eek:

I tested this map with dextronaut.

It is very fun. This is going on the TBG server... but server difficulty is hard, so this might be quite... impossible :-D

Read this if you're getting bad frame rates!

I just figured out that the bad frame rates come when all the ZEDs get bunched up in a door. Especially early on in the map, there are a couple different doors that they all get bunched up and stuck on each other and then the bad frame rate comes in.

The solution (aside from the issue being fixed by the mappers themselves) is to pay attention to what areas this happens and when you see it, just lob a grenade into the doorway and watch the bodies fly and your frame rate return to normal!

Hope this helps some people out there with this issue.

Bad frame rate in this map happens when the ZEDs get caught up in the doorways. I noticed there are a few doorways (especially early on in the map) that ZEDs will get caught on the door and each other and just build up and build up. The the frame rate turns to crap. If you just toss a grenade into the stuck bunch, it takes care of the problem.
