i bought my game through steam so its not the pirated version. and i have game set to automatic updates, still no update to normal version. anyone know how i can reach TRIPWIRE?

I am a MAC user. Brand new MACBOOK PRO. I legally purchased Killing Floor from Steam early December 2011. So i played the original content before the Christmas update. The Christmas update installed and worked fine. Loved it. However i have not played this game since December 28. I tried to play on January 14 but the game will not launch. It did not try to update and when i tried to click on killing floor it launches the steam web as usual and the window comes up saying "preparing to launch killing floor". After that nothing. The KF biohazard symbol bounces up and down in the mac task bar or whatever they call it, but when i click that it just disappears. I have not yet seen the KF main menu or the starting credits. My MAC recognizes it as a running program and wil not let me quit steam. and it shows in my Steam history that i recently played but yet i have not.
I have seen posts about a problem like this from last new year. Maybe could this be the same thing again. I think it was just a failed update for MAC.
Can someone please help me with this problem? Killing Floor is my favorite game to date and i need it like water.
