Great! I'm looking forward to this mod so much, but I was afraid it died along with Iron Europe. It's wonderful news to know it's still alive! Good luck to you guys, I can't wait for it :IS2::IS2::IS2:

We are very persistent ;). It's coming up slowly since we are at the moment a bit under manned. And regards to that, I'd like to remind that we are always looking for talented individuals to help make the mod :) More info can be found here: http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=76158

That Finnish LMG looks exciting. :) Thanks for keeping us updated on your progress and showing us these pics; I can't wait to see a render of the KP/-31.

If I wasn't such a newbie to UE3 and also trying to get an engineering degree I would love to contribute a map to the Karelian Front project. I really want this mod to get made.

Nightingale, there is a render of the Kp-31 on there web site, go have a look! :D
And I have to say this is one of the mods I look forward to most, I have a thing for the Finns... Thinking of studying abroad there during collage.
Also, will all Finnish machine gunners get Lahti-Saloranta? I seem to remember something about the DP-27 being more common among the Finns than their own countries MG...

Correct, Aimo Lahti designed many good weapons like Suomi M-31 (best smg during ww2) and Lahti L-39 (at-rifle).
But he also designed some not so good. Lahti-Saloranta was one of them.
Because of tendency to jam and small magazine finnish soldiers often used
DP-27 instead.

How ever it will be option to lightmachinegunners, which one they want to use.

Only real advantage of the LS-26 was it's firepower with short bursts. Accurate and good ROF, but the magazine size really dwarfed to the DP so that is why it's not a REAL advantage.

Good weapon still, and without the DP war booty, it would've been the mainstay in LMG weaponry, and I don't think it would've done bad at all. As it was, DP was in plenty of supply, so improving LS-26 was not really an issue, and was not done. If it was, that might have turned out even better a weapon.

Really, really good news :)
I'm really looking forward for the first material we'll be able to see, but take your time, in the meantime we will try to be as patient as possible ;)

Thank you Mister Vice President.
We are Finns, of course we are alive ;)
Even when it would be against all odds.

I forget- was this mod Winter war, continuation war, or both?

As migmadmarine mentioned, the mod will focus on the continuation war. That is the case at least for the initial release. There is no plans on adding winter war later as of now, but having it included later is not an impossibility either.

That rifle up there is not M/27, it's M/39. Look at the rear sights and the pistol grip of the stock. Also stock bands and sling attachments show that this is M/39. Just had to say this, been a proud owner of 1942 Sako S.K.y. M/39 for two weeks now, you see :D

Looking forward to this mod!
