Not so much for a Game Mod, it was just some practice. I am just wondering what people think of this model I made with google sketchup. Visual sources were very limited, and I am sure there are some details missing however, the main parts are modeled and grouped, including the safety, firing pin and trigger etc.

I am fully aware that 26k polys is far too large for a game engine! this was just for fun (23 hours of it!). Its a simple kerkythea render.

I am however getting into games modification more and more, having created numerous weapons in sketchup, inc. M9 pistol, L1A1, Enfield .303, AK 47 and Uzi.

If you fancy downloading the model (sketchup required here is the link)

This is a very good model! You should continue your work as a 3d artist, we can never have too many!

This is fantastic, model more please. Now if you excuse i am going to change pants.

That's an unfortunate side-effect

I have a few other models, I am working on an SVT 40 at the moment - but I have some some models I can render most of which are not WW2 era (M4, Hunter Ex Shotgun etc).

However I have a LOT of very high detail WW2 weapons(like the MG34, MN38, Thompson, M1 Garrand and French MAS 36)

I'll put up the renders if people are interested

Looks excellent. You could definitely bake some good normals off that for an ingame model.

If you're looking to join a mod for RO:HoS, I'm sure we can find a spot for you in IE. Consider it. http://ironeuropegame.com/news.php

I am working on 4 games mods at the moment, 1 of which could (hopefully) be huge.

If I get any more free time I'll be sure to contact ironeurope.

I'd add another million polys into it if I would be baking a normal map out of it. But then again, I don't have teh skills needed.

you don't really need an insanely high poly count to get a good normal map. I've never gotten close to 1 million polys when doing high poly weapons. Usually I end up around 400-500k.

Character models on the other hand can require much more with all the folds in the cloth and such.

Max I got to was 450K (with google sketchup) Lagged like hell.

thats one nice Karabiner.

dont forget the sling tough. the sling could be used for longer shots to steady your left hand (loop sling concept)
I only wish that could also be incorporated into sniping.
that and the ZF41 1.5x scout scope.

Impressive that you did this in sketchup. Best i ever did was a mac10 but i think the only reason i got so far was that the mac is so simple in design:D
