With the (let's face it) dying Red Orchestra realism community the 11. Panzerdivision has been batting some ideas back and forth of how to bolster growth not only in our unit, but the community as a whole. We came up with the idea of forming an Axis Kampfgruppe (Battlegroup) between our unit and those of our comrades.

First, I will explain the benefits of joining together. As we all know it's a horrible pain to form units now-days. What with the 4 or 5 active members a fresh unit is bound to have it's virtually impossible to get matches or to have decent drill practices. By banding together units within the KG would have a larger manpool to draw upon (including 11. PzD's 14 active members). Members of these units would be able to participate in more matches and practices would be infinitely more interesting due to the larger amount of participation.

Additionally, all units in the Kampfgruppe would share one Ventrilo. With our unit alone the Vent server is extremely active and there are always people on. 17.SS is extremely active during the day (because they're Europeans :p) and 11.PzD is very active in the evenings. This way there will always be a large number of people on Vent and the realism community can be much more active in RO.

The Kampfgruppe will also share a server (though it will be an RO server as 17.SS controls the Darkest Hour server) and the more units that join, the more slots we will purchase on the server.

Small monthly contributions will obviously be required (based on the size of your unit) to help pay for the additional slots on the Ventrilo and the server but it will save a ton of money in the long run (consider how many realism servers are populated and how much people pay to keep unpopulated servers running).

Such contributions have not yet been decided so the earlier you get in the more minuscule they will be, lol.

The requirements for joining are fairly simple:
1) Must be an Axis realism unit (obviously)
-Ranks must be realistic (no f-ing Field Marshals please)
-Organization must be realistic (If you're an Infantry Division please don't sport Tigers :))
2) Must visit the 11. PzD's forums and submit an application under Ersatz Abteilung with the format stickied therein

Pretty simple gents, don't waste time! I'm especially eager to see Strauss's little SS Division and 16 FJR :).

Current members include 11. Panzerdivision and 17. SS, two of the largest Axis realism units currently operating within the RO realism community.

this actually sounds like a very good idea......it would probably be a great thing for the realism community to unite if there was basically two "units", an axis and an allies...and see individual squads with more detailed unit designations within the whole "army".

good luck, i hope that others will realize the potential of this! :)

Thank you very much!

Trimming and beautifying our forums in the anticipation of some more inter-unit traffic than usual :D

I'm really glad that this happened. It was only natural with how close our units were, and I think it's a step in the right direction for the realism community as a whole to have more organized cooperation and communication between the units.

I would also like to point out another possible benefit is that being in a Kampfgruppe with other units opens up the possibility of regular force-on-force practice scrims, which generally simulate an actual scrim or match much better than single unit combat drills.

I'm proud to be a member of the 17th SS (even if I do wish it were a FJ unit LOL), and of Kampfgruppe Mitzel, and I hope to see more of our comrades in arms join us in our glorious struggle for the Fatherland.

Aren't there only like... two... allied units, though? :(

I had figured that DH would have fostered dozens of them but I guess I was wrong. Instead the Axis community continues to grow while the Allies lose great units like 181st 8*(

Sadly I think RO as much as I love the game is pretty dead when it comes to a realism community. I am not sure if there are even any allied units left that one could consider realism.
The only place were there is a realism community is darkest hour were there are a few large allied units that can provide some resistance. The Kampfgruppe is a good idea for us axis but its very bad for those poor allies. :p

Who are you going to fight against?? lol. On a more serious note, there are practically no allied realism units left. It seemed to me everything went downhill when Fields of Fire was made (and got stabbed) then died. FoF split the ORC community. Causing ORC to die too. Since then we have just been carrying a dead body, which came to life for a millisecond when we had that Arad Infantry only match. Hopefully is RO2 is a ww2 sim maybe it will be revived, till then, dont get your hopes up about weekly scims :p

The realism community's been dead since ORC.

We already have weekly scrims and battles, allied units are overrated and it's usually more fun to fight against Axis units like 17.SS. They can actually think and make the fight interesting... Allied units usually just lose (since 181st).

If you'd have read my post the idea of this is to bolster the Axis realism community. We already have enough members to scrim against each other weekly.

"Allied units usually just lose (since 181st)."

LOLWUT, Arad infantry only i seem to remember killing 7 German soldiers, Without dying once throught the two rounds, all with a boltie.
Call that losing? 2-1 to the Allies.

193rd, 110 and 5th Guards, still beat you.

Brigadista please get you facts right before you post, if you are refering to the RO big realism battle then I think you will find that it was 1-1 the allies won Arad and the Germans (thanks to the 72.ID) won the round on Barashka.
Also Brigadista if you even have unit which I highly doubt then the 72.ID would gladly meet you in battle I dont think I have an anti-partisan badge.
