I think it's a pain and this is why I avoid comboing the HS with the AA12 or any 2 weapons that share the same key.
But everyone has their preferences.
Just one more reason for customizeable keys.

This. I can't stand having more than one weapon on the same key. I bound flashlight to TAB so I can pull my 9mm that way when I am also carrying a handcannon, which I do for most classes I play. I generally have TAB as a pistol and middle mouse as my melee weapon in every shooter I play. TAB is an easy and larger button to access quickly in an emergency, which is perfect in STALKER, so I can shoot people in the head that are getting too close if my main weapon goes down or needs reloading.
