Well, that's an overgeneralization again

Over-generalisation is a given, when breaking down a complicated subject into a few lines :p

I'm not at all claiming Russian tech was all powerful, far from it. The simplicity, reliability and ease of repair is just the upside. The downside presents itself in things such as a lack of quality, especially in the finer niceties you'd expect to see in western tech.

For example I often see people rave on about how awesome the T34 was, and how poor the Sherman was (though if you ask me they both have a lot going for them). When the T34 was in fact bad in a number of ways (such as the initial reliability issues you pointed out), and the Sherman was very good in a number of much overlooked areas.

In these forums there is definitely a tendency for people to refer to easily comparable facts in game-relevant areas, such as armour, firepower, speed etc. But people don't pay enough attention to the finer details, like an auxiliary generator or a good radio.

Not quite sure what a good radio has to do with a thread about guns jamming. But oh well! :p

And P.S. no one gets '20 kill sprees' in RO...ever...if anyone claims they have gotten a 20 kill streak in RO they are either lying or were playing as a sniper.and got very lucky

It's possible to get close to 20 without being a sniper, just have to basically stay in one hidden spot behind the enemy half the game. Depends on the map, of course. Anyway, I agree with your points. If weapons fell apart like this in reality WW2 would have had to be fought with stick and stones by the end of it.

Probably not. Looks like a failure of the round to fire due to poor quality ammunition, not a jam.

Looks more like the mode selector is knackered, he fiddles with it several times to get it to shoot again, which shoulden't clear a dud.

Just a theory here, but i'm thinking the selector has become lose, and the recoil is causing it to move and getting stuck between Auto and Semi, interrupting the auto mechanism.

3) RO is a game based in realism... Do you have any idea how ridiculous it would be that your weapon just falls apart in your hands after killing 20 people? These are weapons of war, not collectors guns. They are meant to be fired hundreds of times between cleaning and maintainence, and they are designed to withstand abuse.

As a man who has been in the army, I'd say that not cleaning your gun for a long period of time is not a good idea. On the final war simulation of my training, I got a bit lazy and didn't clean my gun for the last 3 days. Know what? The hammer (?) in my gun broke during the final fight of the simulation, it wouldn't fire even one bullet anymore.

So saying that the guns can take pretty much anything if not taken care of is just false, even if you don't take care of them for a couple of days, it could mean that the weapon is worthless. (Not counting the AK-47, which can take almost anything)
