[Game] Jagged Alliance - Back in Action

Well, JA:BIA is dumped down version of JA 2 on many fronts.

Jagged Alliance: Back in Action | Ohm's First Look - YouTube

There is also long list made by fans of 2.0 why JA:BIA isn't real JA title.

  • No Turn Based combat
  • No Fog of War
  • Terrible AI
  • No more custom mercs with I.M.P
  • Climbing on buildings only on predefined spots
  • Explosives only on predefined spots
  • No more weekly or daily salary for your mercs
  • No learn-by-doing, training or practicing
  • No long term health care needed to heal Mercs.
  • Unrealistic portraits (You can only recognize mercs by name)
  • Simple Interface (Watch the Screenshots)
  • No mortars
  • No bloodcats
  • Les weapons as in the original
  • No more decomposition and no more ravens
  • Only one difficultly level
  • No stealth
  • No long term health care needed to heal Mercs.
  • No ammo management needed
  • Very bad voice acting
  • No destructable lamp posts
And if you compare BIA to what community did to JA 2.0, you should notice the huge difference in these two games. As a big fan of Jagged Alliance games I was waiting for BIA long time, but when I saw what developer did to the game I prefer to kick JA 2.0 1.13 again and have a lot of fun there.

lol having bad voice acting should be a good thing for these games to be proper sequels :D . Its almost a staple of the genre with Jagged Alliance 2 and Silent Storm, both of which have laughably bad voice work. Some of the dialogue and voice work is pretty amusing tho when you hear the random quips. "Time to take out out the trash"

Read this page for some dev comments on Fog of War:

They might do a "hardcorepatch for the JA-Geeks".

He is keen to stress that the game is still hard even without FoW. I don't really expect much from the game though, and seems it won't be a favourite with JA fans. It just seems really odd to do an actual remake and then leave so much out, and call people who might want something as basic as Fog of War JA Geeks

I got the demo and will give it a try sometime. Might pick JA-BIA up when its like

Just looked at this game on the Steam store.

Spoiler!

Now, I do enjoy turn-based strategy games a good bit as well as real time, but would anyone recommend this to me personally?
