Crap, I had a 1200 baud (bps) then 2400 baud modem. Spent good money (hundreds) to upgrade that USR HST 9600 baud baby eventually.

So that's 1.2, 2.4, and 9.6 kb/s. Nevermind ping. Online gaming was Tradewars. And we liked it!

I guess I am spoiled

200kb/s is indeed enough btw. Got 1Mb/s (I couldn't get any lower)
And fiber is not that prevalent in europe afaik
