Is TWI already working on Killing Floor 2 ?

A friend asked me to post this question, I know that the answer will probably "no" because there is a lot to improve in RO2, but I would like to have an answer.

I asked Xienen on steam, he said he can't say anything on this matter. Whether they're producing KF2 or not, it's a secret that they're not willing to tell us.

I remember that one of them, I think Xienen said in a very old thread, that if KF did well, then they would make a KF 2.

The thread was from a long time ago, I think about the time KF 1st released.

Given the sucsess of KF, they would be crazy not to make a second part.

I think the serious question is, what can TWI do to make KF2 better than the original KF game.

Making a 2nd game that is built exactly like the first, same specimens, a few new maps, characters and weapons, it would be a waste of their time to do that.

Even using the U3 engine, sure the graphics would look better, but what about gameplay, what would be new.

So instead of wondering if a KF2 is coming, I personally wonder, what exactly would KF2 offer?

I think TWI have it stacked against them to pull a ground breaking sequel out of the bag, but time will tell.

Preety much this. TWI isn't a company for reashes so making KF2 would mean it would have to be significinatly different from KF in some key aspects.

Half of the time that is exactly why sequels turn out to be huge let downs.

For starters.

1. Other locations.
2. larger more indepth maps.
3. Female characters and voices.
4. Ethnicly divers characters.
5. Improved AI ( no more funneling/Kiting the zeds).
5. New specimens, especially zeds with ranged attack/weapons, and faster movement.
6. New classes and levels.
7. More/different weapons.

But thats based on visual representation only, it doesn't directly effect gameplay for the majority.

1. Other locations - Simply new maps, can already be done with the KF we have now

2. Larger Indepth maps - Same as point 1, can already be done, they're just new maps

3. Female Characters - I can't see how this would change gameplay, and again can already be done with KF now

4. Ethnicly divers characters - How would that work? How would that possibly change KF gameplay, its just visual representation

5. Improved AI - I can see how improved AI could improve gameplay, but again its not something that calls for a brand new game, you can pretty much tweak the AI in what we have to your liking, but better yet, to what extent would you tweak the AI, its already up on its limits, we've seen teleportation, the only thing left would be ghosts, which I'm sure could be done by the correct modder.

5.2 New specimens - That one I can get on board with, but not for an entirely new game, they could add some new specimens into what we have now, hell there are tons of modded specimens, they just need to be made official.

6. New classes and levels - Again something that can be done in what we have, and I can't see how many more classes we could fit in that would actually make for a good game, I've played modded servers with new classes, I gotta say, they aint all that, it just becomes a confusion fest.

7. More/different weapons - Again modders are doing this nonestop for KF, its not nearly good enough to base a new game on.


With that being said, a combined effort of many of those things could create a KF2, but it wouldn't be worth it as it wouldn't be opening any new doors, it would be KF1.2 now KF2.

I appreciate the ideas though wasted, keep um coming, you never know TWI might just be watching in the shadows for that extra special golden nugget to fall, you could be the person to drop it.

knowing the size of the twi team and the state of ro2 im pretty sure it will be a lil while before they start on it fully. It might be in the very early stages.

Hunter, there are a lot of suggestions in the idea section.. Mission maps with goals to reach. Reaching mission points, looking for "survivors".. There could be a lot of different map types and differendt game modes, e.g. endless KF, wave-based (now), and missions (searching/covering something/somebody, or fight your way to a specified spot and kill a boss there protected by higher zeds, ...)

We don't really need a lot of changes but some kind of "long-term motivation", an improved skill system, ..

with all the big titles bringing attachments & mods to their weapons i wouldn't mind seeing that in KF2 as well, though that might turn it into 1 of those fad games..


anyhow, i like customizing and lots of options to pick from, so if KF2 comes i hope to see some....

I'll be waiting...

Ergh, I hope they don't do that. If we can give the LAR a laser sight, it'd make the M14 a pointless choice, unless they do something to the M14 that makes it completely overpowered.

Yep. Besides the M14 could easily be replaced with an SKS with a detachable magazine to fill in the same role.

With KF2, I sure hope some weapons make a return, I don't want to loose my glorious Winchester 94 (the LAR) and M3 Super 90 (the regular Shotgun).
And I sure as hell hope they put in the correct weapon names this time around, TWI being the bunch of gun nuts they are.

But they could work in changes based on per, ie if you pick a SS weapon and have the SS perk, you get an Holo/ACOG scope etc.

Try to match real world modifications to the perk bonus's given.

Still sounds rubbish to me. I'd rather have a gun just be more desirable because of the attachment it already has.

I think a story mode would be pretty nice too, Killing Floor is definitely a multiplayer player game, but behind it all there is a story, a story of Horzine, the Patriarch and so on, that would be really interesting to see, whilst the multiplayer side would need to be extended in a way everyone else has mentioned (Good ideas, of course.)

I love KF and if KF2 was the exact same I wouldn't give a **** but it would be nice to have female character (besides the trader), weapon wise keep it simple maybe just add some more I'm not really keen on choosing attachments I would prefer you get the attachment that comes with the gun.

Regarding maps it would be nice to have bigger maps making the experience even better but the main problem with that is a team might get separated easier etc, a higher player limit might be good on larger map but that might take away from the experience.

Wouldn't mind an even harder difficulty 2/multiple patriarchs anyone?
