Hello, I was wondering if 20-30 fps on ultra at 1920 by 1080 resolution is normal for this game with my specs

Windows 7 64bit
AMD Radeon Sapphire 6970 2gb
Intel Core i5 760 at 3.8 GHz
8 GB of ram

I would think you should get a little better. Can you post a screenshot of the video settings menu with your current settings?

Also delete all the config files in your MyDocuments/MyGames/RedOrchestra2/ROGame/Config folder just to make sure you have the latest settings. The game will re-generate them when launched.

Sorry for the delay, here is the screenshot:
This would help you without sacrificing video quality:

-frame rate smoothing OFF
-Use hardware Physics OFF (its for Nvidia cards)
-AA set from ultra to high
- Texture quality set from Ultra to high
-Shadow quality set from Ultra to high
-Ambient occlusion OFF

you will see none difference with this setting to the current one you have, you should boost like this up to 70FPS with dips to 40FPS in some areas on some maps.

Thanks, hopefully this helps. I didn't even know I had settings for nvidia cards available to me.

Just tried playing with changes to the settings and had no improvement, my framerate still sits at the 25 to 30 range. Out of curiosity I set everything as low as possible and still remained around 25 to 35 fps.

Did you try this?

Just tried monitoring gpu/cpu usage and temps while playing Ro2

GPU- 40%
CPU- 40% but seemed to fluctuate from 30% to 50%

I'm not sure how accurate these are but its something.

For tempuratures,

GPU maximum was 65 degrees celcius

CPU maximum was 50 degrees celcius

I don't know if this is helpful because my system is a bit different than yours (see sig):

I have had a lot of problems with game performance and also faced the issue that no matter which settings I used (low-med-high), the fps basically stayed the same.

After the November patches however, I did a clean re-install of the game and put everything on max. except shadows on the 2nd highest level. Now fps are constantly between 45-60fps. Even on Station, the fps drops are not happening anymore (1 exception).

I also used Tuneuputilities for register cleaning and all other options this programme is offering. I don't know if this helped in some way, but I just want to basically describe what changed my performance to almost double the fps.

Temperature of graca while playing HOS: about 70 degrees (celsius of course)

I am a noob when it comes to systems but some forum members helped me out and I am just stating my procedure. Maybe it is helpful for you or another person, who knows?!

Yup, I have also done multiple fresh installs of the game.
I know you've said you've done fresh installs of the game, but have you done this?:

delete all the config files in your MyDocuments/MyGames/RedOrchestra2/ROGame/Config folder just to make sure you have the latest settings. The game will re-generate them when launched.

I can't recall if that folder gets deleted on an uninstall. Its quite possible that those files still remain. You don't have to do an install to have the files redone. Just delete the contents of the folder.

If you have, then disregard everything I've said.;)

Yeah that folder doesn't get removed on an uninstall, I have deleted it multiple times, the fresh installs seemed like something that couldn't hurt to try anyway.

Do you have the latest video drivers? If you have any anti virus running try disabling it to check.. Also do you get the FPS in single player?

Yes I have the latest catalyst 11.12 drivers and turning off my anti-virus had no effect.

I tried out the singleplayer (Only the tutorial and first mission) on ultra settings, During the tutorial I had about 50-70 fps and on the first mission it still hung around 25 to 35 but unlike in multiplayer it actually felt much smoother and actually playable while in the multiplayer it always seems sluggish and jerky even at the rare times when I achieved 35 fps.

Have you tried a multiplayer server without punkbuster?

Did you try to
1. Fully uninstall your video drivers with "Driver cleaner"
2. Install the newest Catalyst

try changing
Code:
[TextureStreaming]
PoolSize=140
to
Code:
[TextureStreaming]
PoolSize=512
in ROEngine.ini

It removed that sluggishness for me. It's weird but game also feels a bit smoother with sound channels set to 128.
