As far as i know, there will be singleplayer campaigns. One for russians, other for germans. But as far as FPS games go, they are all like walktrough in nature, you only move foward and in a rare moments you defend or fall back. But that last part almost never happen in most shooters.

However, when researching about Stalingrad, you'll find that a lot of a battle was either a static or areas constantly changed hands. The Stalingrad train station changed hands like 12 times. So there has to be some kind of static battle elements in this game, unlike Call of Duty where you push foward and win a battle in 10 minutes.

Also raises the question about persistent damage.

As much of the battle raged back and forth over these static strongholds, a campaign reflects time progression.

It'll be interesting to see what state of destruction is presented for the buildings of Stalingrad, and from a designing point of view, what "Stalingrad" is actually modeled.

Also very interesting imo will be the change of weather on the same battlefields, like the train station that I suppose was fought over from the early days till the extreme winter, where you can have the variations of the same map in a sunny day with lots of dust and "fresh" rubble, to mud and lastly lots of snow.

I'm thinking mostly of single player but maybe also in multiplayer you can have a snowy map (if there are any :p ) with half covered frozen/rotten bodies with lighter clothes and in obvious battle positions (lets say the same places players will seek cover or run through and not just throw some corpses in there like they fell from the sky).

As of Stalingrad itself, I'm pretty sure we will see locations as much close to reality as its possible for a game and not some lame D-Day replays where poor Russians will be dieing by the gazillions trying to get off the docks defended by happy trigger Germans equipped only with mg42s and unlimited ammo.

PS. OK we can have some of those maps as long as the river is frozen enough to hold the weight of our lovely little :IS2:s rolling across and destroying everything

Even if there was not progressive damage to the environment with each match, there should at least be different weather settings. And even if there isn't this, it would be awesome to see multiple maps of the same place, but all having different weather conditions based on Wilsonam's archives. :D An example of this would be Zhitomir in RO:OST, as there are two versions based on different time periods with different "weather."

I wonder, if there is gonna be some crazy skirmish mode (there will be skirmish mode), where you can virtually fight forever in one map.

I think, it will be a lot easier, if light was fully dunamic. But i can't say its gonna be so.Probably not.
