Why RO2 Will Not Die

Why RO2 Will Not Die

There are a few reasons why I believe RO2 will not die as a game. Let me list a couple:

1. The PC community that didn't really follow RO1 has been lacking a good tactical based FPS for quite some time now. Those missing a good tactical and realistic shooter have been waiting for a game to come along that is not COD and they have found it and embraced it.
2. Yes to those older RO players who like to grief about the newcomers to the RO community will chase a few away but many of us will be here for the long term because we see the possibility of a great game with full community support. (All other games outside of TWI realm lose company support as soon as game release as they plan for the next game in their franchise).
3. Full MOD support will keep the game fresh and playable and will improve it greatly.

I see the greatness of RO2 in what it will become for those of us who are committed to PC gaming and not console gaming. PC's are where the FPS genre belongs and we will keep great games alive.

This game's ability to survive more than a year post-release depends wholly on how TWI decides to start treating its loyal (or formerly loyal) fanbase by actually acknowledging the desire for realistic game modes. Other than the massive amount of bugs, the biggest thing that's keeping the really loyal RO1 fans away is the lack of game modes and play styles that are realistic, such as servers that are utterly dominated by auto and semi automatic weapons.

Until TWI realizes that a sizeable number of their relatively small playerbase that wants this stuff is actually important, I don't think this game has a chance. If they aren't going to listen to what the community wants, they need to at least get an SDK out ASAP (a working one) so that we can at least mod it into a game that is a worthy successor to RO1 in terms of realism and historical accuracy.

Yeah, Im in Hong Kong too and i play pretty often with Mr.Sev because the JP-HOHEI-SEN is one of the only constanty populated servers and my ping is around 120... So anyone complaining about not finding on the US westcoast or australia is pretty dumb because thats where i see all the populated servers coming from.

The asian fanbase is pretty good though and i think it will grow over time (language differences are annoying because it stops teamwork sometimes)

I guess you just have to have been playing FPS games since their start with doom and wolfenstein like me to really recognize such a gem of a game like RO2... All the haters dont know what they are saying...

The game is out from one month ago so you are killing it right now?

Put Elder Scroll:Oblivion pc vs Oblivion consoles (example, there are lot) in pc you just need 2 mods, one graphic and one gameplay mods, and the game turns into a powerful difference.A pc game with tools never

same old, same old

We want r02 yet r02 will not be as good as r01 as its r02.

I wonder how many of the r01 players are moaning as there still playing it on a DX4-100.

The gameplay is good, i would say it better than r01 its certainly more fun.

Well I love this game, the only things I dislike are...

1. The maps (too few and some aren't great).

2. The weapons are too easy to use, I feel like a robot with my grip on the rifle.

I will continue to play.

I have a good amount of friends that own the game but gave up, the biggest complaint? It was too hard. They couldn't understand that you needed to adjust for bullet drop or lead your targets, some have got hung up on this killstreak/unlocks/perks/stats crap that Developers released to make crappy players feel like they are accomplishing something

I explain that this is not going to be a game like COD, there is no laser precision shots, you need to think about your shots, there are objectives in the game and that you need to work as a team and that those uber skills that you thought you had do not mean diddly if you do not help your team, I explain that after a few kills you are not going to get some little reward to make you feel good about your crappy playing, there are no great unlocks that give you some super weapon...ect...

So let the COD and BF guys run off and play their arcade shooters (I enjoy playing both COD and BF in limited dosages) and let the guys that want a challenge to play their choice pick, we both will do fine to leave each other alone.

With John Gibson (RammJaeger) on the top, dont count on it.

This game will be played until RO3, at which point the forums will be full of people saying RO3 is a huge disappointment, it just doesn't have the charm and bolt actions from RO2 and it will certainly die soon.

Maybe it's just me, but I find it a lot easier to hit people in RO2 than it is in COD or Battlefield.

Actually, I do too. But that's because the weapons actually behave in a realistic way, opposing to the arcadish way guns are treated in CoD, and BFBC2. Also, in RO, it's pretty much 1-2 hit kills, which means that if you hit, you kill, unlike the system of 1 magazine/1 kill system of CoD/BF.

Heh I was going to say, I can practically snipe with the first bullet from an MG. Whoever said that we must have had to play Doom and Wolfenstein to appreciate RO2 is shoveling some serious BS. I'd bet that a whole lot of RO fans are old enough to have played those games.

Regarding the OP, RO2 will continue with a very low playerbase for quite some time, but I think that TWI has alienated some former rabid fans (like myself) due to an extremely poor release and bad design choices, as well as lots of new folks.

Everyone thought Stardock was awesome after Sins of a Solar Empire and their whole "Gamer's Bill of Rights" garbage, and two broken releases later they have been completely written off. Don't do the same thing TWI!

This games is at the beginning of a great game. When you think of
new maps, weapons, tanks etc.

I know it then for sure that the tankplay will be much better than ROost with
the exagerated angle war.

From what I can tell, the number of users have been rising again lately. It was 2900+ today, and there was a time where there were no more than 900 people online.

Its a stuttering , fast paced , extremely buggy and messi developed (not able to stab one on the ground :p) piece of software.Nearly all added features don't suit the Common RO player. And nearly all things that RO Players liked and found worthy were cut out.The playercount is falling down and it steadily has less players than DoD:s right now.
You and that handful of people here praising that thing as the best experience ever will be havin a hard time killing your godlike bot enemys soon.

My only hope lays in some Custom mods .. maybe.
