It's still pretty challenging as I usually just jump into pubs and sort of gamble with what players I'm going to get. Some days I'll get a well coordinated team that actually works together, other times I'll get thrown in with that one Sharpshooter who won't buy anything past the LAR and ignores bigger specimens thinking that the Commando can handle them better.
it's always going to be competitive because you can play it any way you like.
There's no point a team of level 6 supports camping the purple corridoor in bedlam (for example) for 10 waves, going zerk an sawing up the Pat and then complaining the game isn't a challenge.
You'll get out what you put in, and if your prepared to be interesting and different you set yourself a challenge and often have more fun too.

I haven't played in quite a while. Got metro 2033 on sale. Then Duke Nukem (sucks) and the rerelease of Hellgate London. Just picked up Bulletstorm for $9 and Crysis 2 for $18.
Yeah I still find it challenging, I never play Support or Berserker 
I remember Hellgate: London, i played that at the local internet cafe, then they got from it because it wasn't being used
Then they remade/re-released it. Haven't seen it lately.
Personally i'm not voting on the poll because the option i want isn't there.
I want a combo of yes with noobs and yes with content, lol.
Because trying to take out a Tank Scrake while Bloat Mothers, Brutes, and other custom specimens like the Nutgrabber is a real challenge, especially if all you have is a M99/Mk23 combo; self-defence is often put in the hands of your not-so-competent teammates

I still find it challenging. Mostly because the server I was lent was taken back from me without notice and I have to play with mongoloids in public servers and HoE games have so much chance of going completely wrong due to the current playerbase, it's not fun anymore.

like anything is challenging.... I was like playing normal and I killed the scrappy scrake with only 4 Lar shots...
FF is awesome with friends. but I won't play it on the pubs, too many idiots out there.
Some maps are easy anymore but most are still tough enough for me on Suicidal and HoE.
