If you are really aggrieved email/pm the server admin. Make a case send a couple of screenshots of the console showing the indiscriminate killing and you never know they may get a ban. Personally I'd ban 'em straight away that's why I have banned 82 so far.

There's a mutator that reflects all damage back to the shooter.
TKs become suicides.
I like it because when I need to do something drastic to save a teammate, say both barrels, I can decide easier because I'm the one who'll get hurt. If I have lots o' health and armor, then I'll toss a grenade or what ever.
The big problem is people who don't look where they're going. I had an x-bow shot lined up and someone put his head in my way, hence the humorous message:
"chicxulub shot himself."
It's like the *^(!*^@-ers who walk in front of your law w/o FF. You die and he may never notice.
Anyway, I like it so far.
Look for FFRevenge.zip

Mirrored damage is not really the solution, first of all it robs the game of the feel and realism FF creates, secondly, it's just as abuseable as FF is, teamkillers just go about it in a different way (basically by constantly running infront of people who are shooting so they will damage themselves).

The same is true of vote kicking, it can be abused by thease people, they just join a server in numbers and all vote the same, thus getting innocent players kicked or even blacklisted from servers (if the admin see's a pattern, he might assume you disserved the kicks and give you a perm ban).

I know of no propper solution to the problem, so the best thing you can do is contact an admin if one is avalible, or if not, collect as much evidence as possible and send it to the admin (and incourage others to do the same), then hopefully the guy will get banned at a later time.

I agree. I'd never run a mirrored-damage mutator.

The best anti-griefer/TKer tool on my server is the admin email and wonderful, indespensible unix tool 'grep', with which I can search logs for any line that contains the offending player's name, so I can verify that they're not playing nice and find their ID so I can ban them even after they've left.

Not all servers have vote-kicking enabled. Mine doesn't, for instance, because it's very abusable.

Very. And abusable by the very people you'd want to kick! Often they come in groups of 2-3 and votekick legit players!

Anyway, what the game needs is a 'TK-Punish' system, much like Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 had. If someone kills you, it gives you two options:

Page Up - Forgives the TK. Used when its obviously an accident. Nothing happens to the TKer when you forgive

Page Down - Punishes the TKer. Punishing does various things, based on the server settings.

Since you respawn in BF 2 and BF 2142, punishment makes respawn times 30 seconds more than usual or longer! And it gets worse with each TK, usually having the TKer kicked after 3 TK Punishes in a row.

In Killing Floor, you could make the TKer sit out a round (Or two rounds for a repeat offense!), lose all money, or get outright kicked. You could set it up as well that after a number of kicks from a TK-punish (Meaning you killed people 3 times in a row multiple times!), you are banned from the server, only able to be unbanned by contacting an admin and making your case.

The system works great in Battlefield. Griefers are quickly kicked or at the very least, slowed down and yet it doesn't punish accidents. Since Friendly Fire isn't the default setting, I can see why they didn't include this feature in Killing Floor, but it'd be a nice thing to add and I'm sure that with some scripting, server admins could code it in...

I think this TK punishment system would be quite good. Stripping an unforgiven Teamkiller would be stripped of all armour, taking away his weapons and halving his starting money in the next wave after death, or having the trader not trade with him would be quite handy in reducing TK's. :)

Personally, open FF-servers are not a good idea. Let me tell my experiences of FF games. A couple of nights ago someone joined as a firebug on Westlondon. Of course, I thought that he would be trouble later on. He was. He managed to set us all on fire when he saw a fet monsters around the team and obscured the vision of us all when a FP was getting too friendly and caused us all to wipe. Well, as if that wouldn't be all, the next map the same guy was not paying attention what he was shooting (he changed into Support Specialist) and he teamkilled someone again. This would not be too bad, as he left the server soon after, but when people start taking "vengeance" on the teamkiller it turns bad. So guess who got killed at the trader with

Sounds good, can't wait to get people to kill me so I can abuse this feature. :)

FF is fine and no drama. Yes you get twats but my experience is that now the game is into its second stage of its life cycle (those who are playing now generally want to play) the twats are getting less and less. Of course this only until TWI does a free weekend and then all merry hell breaks loose but I get as much fun from banning people as I do playing. Its all the same to me when I got a glass of Pinot Grigio and listening to Heavy Metal.
