I'd prefer if the Berzerker's health stayed at 100. Healing per second is capped, so having less health but more damage reduction ends up being better if you are being healed. The damage reduction on Berzerker isn't a flat 5% either - they have a perk skill that adds 25% (listed as 15%), to any zed they have hit once, for the duration of its lifespan. They add up, with blocking and parrying, to a very respectable level. A lot of Berzerker are also starting the game as Medic, to get 175 armour, that make their damage reduction much much higher than any other perk, including Medic. Even if this is unintended and if it is removed, the Berzerker still has an acceptable level of damage reduction from any zed they have hit once. I'd prefer a flat bonus, and an additional bonus to Husks, currently the most deadly zed to Berzerkers, but it isn't as bleak as some of these comments make it out to be.
veryBadKarMa and UserSD- The Berzerker offers a lot of advantages over Medic. Medic already feels like a very strong and safe perk due to the insane level of survivability it offers, and when you start Hell on Earth the extra level of safety can feel like other perks do not match up. I hit 25 as Medic first, and for a long time I leveled the other perks using Medic and offperk weapons. A lot of the Berzerker's strengths are not apparent - the EMP grenade requires coordination and damage reduction on hit perk skill, while very strong, is not obvious to players. Also, the melee swing speed bonus and damage take a while to feel solid, and it's not until the late 20s that the damage bonus breaks the threshold of requiring one less melee swing for trash zeds that the difference is noticeable.
M34T-B4G_441, yeah. I agree. My point was that the Berzerker is strong, but for the wrong reasons. Many players are saying it's a hopeless and weak perk, when it's actually the key to success in Hell on Earth. It's an issue that the perk skills do not feel like they add much, and many of them feel like an empty choice. The first choice is probably the worst, especially for satisfaction - they should feel like they are actually getting something when they level.
Lexxure, it is extremely difficult to "tank" Scrake as a Medic, even more so after the grenade change. Even before, when 2 grenades would grant 172 armour, the Medic was still in danger of dying instantly if they missed a parry. It's much safer to simply kill the Scrake at range, or throw an EMP to prevent a rage. Medics can do just fine on Fleshpounds though, especially if they have a melee weapon. It's possible that if perks are added that can quickly kill Scrakes (Sharpshooter) than the Berzerker EMP won't be needed for them, and a Medic can tank a Fleshpound just as well if not better with self healing. Keep in mind with 10 perks you won't see all of them in a game, and if a Medic is required to play a melee perk, you may not see many. The Hell on Earth meta could shift a lot in the coming weeks, and we'll have to see what sort of changes we get. Support can already play the role of a Medic almost as well, and combined with a Commando, can offer more armour than a Medic per round in low damage situations.
Quintuplin, the Berzerker weapons, with the exception of the Pulverzier, do feel very underwhelming.
Senario, whether it is fun or not was not my point. It's that the Berzerker is strong, despite common belief to the contrary. Do I find the current Berzerker to be fun? Not really, but I prefer ranged perks, the Commando in particular. People who enjoy melee more might enjoy the Berzerker in its current state or they could feel like it is underwhelming. I'll wait for the other melee perks and see if they feel any different.
