IS 2 greatest tank of ww2

Funny. If only I belonged to a "Nazi" Realism Unit.

1./Pionier-Bataillon.305 - 305.Infanterie-Division

last time i checked, the unit of which you're a member of (assuming that you are actually a member) fought for Nazi Germany during WWII. therefore, yes, you belong to a Realism Unit that is portraying a Nazi military group..... i.e. a "Nazi RU" :p:IS2:

I believe it is just as valid to call a German RU a Nazi RU as it is to call a Russian one a Soviet RU.

..and I do both.

But "Soviet" isn't used as a catch-all insult.

Perhaps, then, Nestor should have said "...as it is to call a Russian / Soviet one a Communist RU." Nazism and Communism are both brands of political thought, and the name of the dominant party in their respective countries, and it's certainly considered an insult in many circles.

Incorrect. Time for semantics. It is a German unit that fought for the Greater German Empire. "Nazi Germany" is a modern naming convention used to distinguish the aforementioned nation from previous instances of itself. The argument that Germans fighting for the Greater German Empire were Nazis in comparison to Russians fighting for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics is invalid.

Military Organizations share the same demonym as their countries. The soldiers of the Soviet Union were Soviet (not, say Bolshevik) and the soldiers of the Greater German Reich were German (not National Socialist).

* Oh, that's rich.

I hate every, single, one of you.

But with the Waffen-SS reenactors/realism guys, it's not so simple. I mean, the Waffen-SS was not like the German Army that had existed through several kingdoms and regimes, but was a private army raised solely to further ideological goals independent of national security. Some even feared the Waffen-SS would be used after the war for a coup... like the scare with the SA all over again. Reenactors can say "well I'm playing a soldier that only thought this" or "our unit never did those things", but at the end of the day you still have the runes on your collar and you're still under Himmler's thumb.

But I know some of those players and I like them (even though some don't like me :p) so I don't really care or hold it against them. And after all... I'm in an NKVD unit. We're an Internal Troops unit - glorified security guards and riot police - that means that when we're not fighting on the frontlines during some emergency like a foreign invasion, we're keeping the citizenry in their place. That's not really pleasant to think about.

And now I'll never comment on the realism community's foibles again.

Save for the fact that the tens of thousands of young volunteers legitimately believed in the threat of Russian Bolshevism. Nations have been forming foreign volunteer units since Roman times (and before). I know it's so difficult to imagine the vile, villainous, hyper-aggressive Nazi regime doing the same things that Civilized Nations did and do (England and the King's German Legion, Napoleon's W
