True, J. R. R.Tolkien had to leave out the IS2, Greatest siege engine of Middle Earth, due to the fact that nothing could possibly beat it, thus creating infinite writers block that would inhibit the finishing of the trilogy.

"Grond" in this scene was originally meant to be the IS-2 but Tolkein, the KT fanboy that he is, took that part out of the book and Peter Jackson had to go with Grond when he did the movie. :IS2:
