Now that is the most useless part of these forums . . . It's just there to let the community vent.

This is not entirely true. Fact is that TWI have addressed a good amount of the major complaints. Then its obvious that every single suggestion can't be taken into practise.

How's this game's multiplayer community doing?
Is there much activity, is there a reasonable number of filled servers?

I'm thinking of getting into this, but I don't want to play with/against just bots.

Same question...

Well, right now there is not much happening on public servers, the last I played there were about 2-3 filled servers. I guess the rough launch is responsible for this.

So if you want to get the "full experience" you'll have to join a clan/realism unit or join the FH IF campaign.

Nevertheless the game is a lot of fun and I enjoyed it so far, but I hope that the community will grow in the next weeks/months.

Never played it but thought it looked good and was tempted to pre-order; noticed yesterday that GameSpot gave it 2/10, which makes me ever so slightly dubious.

What are peoples' thoughts? Is it really that much of a mess?

here to kill your monster
i hear from an arma fan that it's not worth the money so i will leave it for now.
although he did say the armour system was good.
Although set in the western front - not as interesting - the i44 mod for arma is pretty good, with a lot of extra kit to use and of course it's free.

I got two hours into creating a simple little commando raid type mission for my self before I realized recon have no satchel charges by default and there's no wiki yet with weapon and vehicle lists....

I think the game has a lot of potential, but at the moment I feel paralyzed anytime I try to play it.

I know how you feel. That summarizies 70% of the time I try to play ArmA 2. :p

Well, to reflect on some recent posts here. I played the game for quite a bit and it wasn't the low player count pub servers that was the issue for me more so then the rough release. After the second patch I just haven't heard much from the developers.

I have this foliage and tree issue that distorts the LOD and it just makes the game look awful regardless of the settings I have. I'm assuming they'll fix this during the next patch or what not but until then I can't stand playing it with that horrendous problem.

The game definitely has potential, the models are quality and the tank/vehicle features/mechanics are great. About the comparisons to Invasion 1944, in my opinion, Iron Front has much better quality but I44 has more quantity. That is pretty much my look at it.

The whole hurdle of fire one has to go through for creating and publishing mods for Iron Front was a dagger in the heart though. This is my biggest issue with the game. Sure, waiting for patches/updates can be rather lengthy right now but the fact that there won't be many mods for the game as there are in the ArmA series is something that was poorly handled.

noticed yesterday that GameSpot gave it 2/10, which makes me ever so slightly dubious.

I wouldn't respect the biased opinions from sites where journalists are more keen to console titles then military simulation PC games. I rather read up on what PC Gamer and/or Gamespy thought, though I always leave such decisions up to myself rather than reviews. Like I written above, the game has potential though some jarring issues at the moment stop it short from its true potential.

Thinking about picking this up on Steam, but the only way I'd enjoy it is if there was a regularly active group or clan I can play with specifically for this game.

There was a lot of lofty talk about this game before release here so, are there any clans/dedicated groups from this community that plays Iron Front? And more importantly if you do - are you willing to take in a new player (plenty of experience with ArmA though)?

Let me know, if not - I guess I'll skip it then.

This is why i didnt buy it. I didnt want to buy something where no one plays and the only play time will be lan parties in my basement once a year. Game looks sweet though.

I haven't played the game yet. I can't get my hands on it in stores and I only buy games in a physical form. So I refuse to buy via steam.

Bought this game on sale...really wish I didn't. Game play feels exactly the same as ARMA 2. Crashes alot. And the campain is painfull. No body playing online. Wast of 20 dollars. Asked for my money back from steam, they just said contact Iron front.

This game really is the same if not less than what should of been a free mod.

Looking at the responses here, I think I did good to hold off. Invasion 44 is preparing another big update which will include new aircraft and tank features. It should give me enough WW2 dosage.
