Either way... How are you all enjoying the game? I'm still contemplating updating my rig sooner than later just for this...

Well, let's see... There are standard issues with the game itself due to the RV3 engine. Most bugs I'm okay with because I'm an understanding gamer and know what was to entail when they choose this engine to work on.

I have an issue where nearby foliage, trees and bushes become extremely blurry and the details constantly morph as if they're behaving like terrain that is 2000 meters away. This does not happen in ARMA II:OA and never had, though I've read that they are aware of the issue and sought a fix. So for that at least, I'm pleased.

My other issues are more concerning as even with a tweaked config file and tried and true working parameters in my target line (like maxMem=X, exThreads=X, cpuCount=x, etc.) Iron Front, regardless of running on ARMA II:OA's engine does not utilize my hardware properly at all.

In situations where all hell is breaking loose, it is only using at max 40% (not a hair more) of my cpu and who knows if its fully utilizing my Vram as well. I get sporadic frame rates that are all over the place from as low as 18-25 to 72-105 averages, wish it was more consistent like ARMA. I'd kill just to have a consistent frame rate of at least 45-60 as I know the engine itself is not the best for optimization and never will be.

Yet, I don't have these issues in ARMA 2:OA, and it honestly makes me regret my purchase of IF, unless they can find a solution. Yet so far, I can't even get their attention on their forums and no amount of tweak guides for ARMA 2:OA will help my issues (I know them all anyway).

So that is Iron Front in a nutshell for me at the moment.

Iron front is a game with a huge potential because it is very easy to mod maps, animation, weapons and infantry models. But Red Orchestra 2 is very hard to modify game settings, animation and many things like that. Maybe that is the reason that has lost the majority of people support. Because it is very hard-consumming to mod.

or because RO2 lost the majority of people because it was buggy as **** at release ?

From what I here IF, is doing quite well in that league.

@x3ckid...
As far as modding goes, UnrealEng is more user friendly in a lot of aspects.
Did you ever try making a map with the Bis tools ?
I doubt it, otherwise you would not make such a statment.

I don't understand why Red 2 doesn't implement a feature to stop the reloading action, because even Call of duty has it. Is very annoying that if you spot someone and you are reloading you need first to melee or run to stop the reloading, why not make it a feature? Like when firing the weapon and loading bullet by bullet you can stop the loading and still have an amount of bullets remaining in the magasine, at this moment the feature isn't present, but why not add it? Even Call of duty world at war had this feature.

I don't understand why people keep refering to Red 2 as only for the battle of Stalingrad, the name of the game is made just to atract the media, is only just a fancy name. Why not make Red Orchestra 2 also implement other maps from the later timeperiod? Like battle of kursk, the russians going into offensive rather than deffensive. Why limit only because the games name is Heroes of Stalingrad, because this realism thingie isnt respected anymore with the sudden release of the custom maps like Ogldow, Butova and many others.

Yeah , as i said initially , Iron Front will really become a reference game in at least 8 months to 1 year ... (when Arma2 went out , it was buggy as well , took the devs quite some time to smoothen it )

Currently it is simply unplayable for half the people who bought it , feels incomplete (bugs , serious performances problems that i don' have with Arma 2 combined ops , for instance 22 fps max in 60 player servers Pvp .. ) , as long as they don't solve this problems , the game is virtually dead , but if they solve this , then the game could become the absolute best in its category

Currently it also lacks mods (from sounds to new weapons ) and better and more fluid animations ( in Arma 2 every soldier has like 20kg at least , sometimes 30KG on him , but a WWII soldier movements should be more fluid , they should let player do their own bolting as well ) but all this can be done by the community

What we expect from the devs is to quickly give major optimization to their engine and netcode so that it actually becomes playable when more than 30 people gather on a server and find a way to give more framerates to the average joe , that would save the game .... and if they do that , then the community will follow with ambitious mods and the game will take another dimension

Somewhere Else
I must say I really start to enjoy it, still not as much as RO or Dh, but now the first community maps start to show up, the first acceptable servers are online and the game don

WOW, if Red orchestra would have battles like this would surely be the best game possible

Oh, quit the constant negative comparisons, its been going on for a few pages already. This thread is about Iron Front, not what if or why didn't RO2 did or didn't do this/that.

If you're that genuinely concerned about features for Red Orchestra 2, then go to the Ideas and Suggestions portion of the RO2 forums and express your concerns there.

Really good promotional film, why do people do stuff like that ?
The game is already in the shyte and thats not helping one little bit.

I've played quite a few 100 player + matches with ArmA but what I see there is not up to standard.
Don't get me wrong, Ive been playing BIS for 10 years (+ about 6 hrs today) and they were all buggy as heck when launched.

Oh well...Still waiting for Play to send me the game, I might cancel it and buy...errr DOOM BFG with 3DVision,, yes...

If any game had battles like this it'd be the best game possible, no doubt. It's the tantalizing promise of the Virtual Reality Engine that no one has quite been able to pull off, massive multiplayer battles that actually run well. PR probably does it best. Hopefully A3 will improve things.

The crappy performance in the vid is probably a combination of all those ai and Fraps.

The patch released improved things for me , in term of performances online , that's a good sign , it's also nice to see they released it quickly , it doesn't fix everything but a step in the right direction . The rifle sounds are much better now too .

Ya PR definitely offers the best experience for large coordinated battles.

Nothing else comes close tbh.
