Ehm, the movement is not fluid at the moment guys. In real life you can sprint, quickly move in a different direction and still look at the target... in INS you get tunnel vision while sprinting. So in my opinion, strafing has to be in. On the other hand, it does prevent unrealistic zigzagging. It's also annoying that you stop sprinting as soon as you make a "drop" from 10 cm. You can move while leaning in real life as well, so it currently feels unnatural.

Anyway, after a couple of more rounds with good TEAMWORK I have to say I now love this game. The command system is great - people do follow the icons. I've seen people providing fire for each other while others move up, etc. Some people know that bullet penetration is in, and I've seen them take advantage of it. Here, a US Marine is hammering a plate fence in case a couple of Insurgents reinforce the objective we're capping:

The teamwork system is great. If people are willing to work together you'll have a great time. In a couple of months, INS will have better teamwork than RO. Just watch.

All in all I think most of you were expecting an OFP level of realism with this game.

You sound supriced.. but that is exactly what we where told we where getting, and the only reason some of us showed any interest in the mod in the first place.

Needless to say, now that it is abundantly clear that this is not the case, we've lost intrest.

But im time this mod will become very popular

Depending on how the developers improve and modify the game. If they just take the bugs out and leave it as it is, I doubt it'll triumph. But, if they listen to the neutral community members instead of asslicking tards who think everything in Insurgency is a godsend, I bet it'll become more and more popular.

First my little rant on what I went through to get INS to even work...
I had to reinstall steam (for more than one reason, see below), which I thought would be no biggy, that program is only a few MBs and it's not like it is so attached to the game files it would uninstall my games along with it right? WRONG! So ****ing wrong, whoever designed steam's uninstall routine needs to be disemboweled and kept alive as long as possible afterward, why on ****ing earth would you by default delete everything within the steam folder and give no other option (oddly enough the repair function is in the install exe and not the uninstall exe... its not even mentioned)? I had several gigs of retail games, mods, and other custom content which I am unsure I can replace (I might still have all the files that custom content came from, I might not).

So after this forced clean install of steam, I redownload/install HL2, RO, source SDK base, and INS (which I had to redownload because FP gave me a borked file which worked just enough to load up the game, but not actually play it without tons of problems) and I still have the same problem for which I wanted to reinstall steam in the first place. The problem was that whenever I went to create server for any source mod there would be nothing there, just the window with no text. This happened in both INS and LA (Lethal Agents, which didn't work anyway, thought this would fix it), but even after all that Create Server still didn't have any text any window. So I just hit start and it works, and I was also able to join online servers too.

Which now leads me to comment on INS... wow buggy. I mean I have played some buggy beta 1 releases before, but so much as cough and INS CTD's. I have spent far, FAR too much time trying to get this damn mod to work, and I have only been able to play 10 minutes at a time because I either crash or the server does. From what I can gather during that non-consecutive hour of play is that this mod is not worth it till the next patch or even the one after that. I'm guessing the first patch will be entirely bug fixes (hope fully crash fixes will be reduced) and the next one will actual change some gameplay factors. Anyways, performance is below decent but playable. Things that are really killing the fun are:
  1. TKers, if your on a server with a tker and no admin, save yourself the grief and find another server, there is nothing you can do to stop him from camping in spawn and shooting teammates right as they spawn.
  2. Recoil, way to much of it. Every time you fire your gun has jumped up high enough as if designed to kill people who are standing on the target's shoulders. While deployed the MG's feel great, but once you put that bipod up say good bye to its usefulness. Of course MG's are going to jump more without the bipod's support but these things are very heavy compared to the infantry man's assault rifle and they fire the same bullet. If anything they should have less recoil and dominate the battlefield almost any situation.
  3. Grenades of all kinds are broken, RPG reloads by itself, sometimes hand grenades don't throw and you can't switch to another weapon, the m203's sights are not adjustable and the grenade seems to shoot out of the top of the weapon at a incredible high angle (making it almost useless).
  4. This is a tricky one, there is sight offset (bullets shooting below the actual iron sights) but it is either shooting to low, or something is wrong with the player's view, its just awkward.
  5. No muzzle flashes, not even in dark rooms, granted they shouldn't be really visible during the day time but if your in a really dark room or the map is set at dusk, there is going to be some kind of a light source to return fire on. It feels like the someone has turned invisible mode on and people will just keep running blindly into the field of fire because no one can see that there is a enemy in a window somewhere. And no its not lack of communication, if no one can see the enemy then no one can report to the team where the he is.
P.S. This post was not checked for grammar or syntax cause I don't care for it atm.

Well, didn't play enough yet to give a full impression. Still very buggy, with rough edges. Reminds me of CS first beta release, everybody was like "meh, it will never get very far. It's nice distraction though". Not to say Insurgency will get the same following as CS, but judging a mod by its first release's always been a mistake. It has potential though.

As for the mod, can't say I'm impressed as of now, FireArms was doing all that way back in the days in the modern realism stuff with grades, mortars and the like and much more.

Movement's pretty weird, it has that GRAW 'drag' feeling when you move. In CQB, I tend to hit doors and the like, it doesn't 'flow' as well as RO. Ironsight are okay, like the aimpoint despite the weird zoom Still, might be worth a more thorough look. You tend to get shot from nowhere though, but it tends to tighten firefight and help flanking through backalley, which is pretty good.

I think this mod sucks.
The movement sucks, it's no fun for me, neither is it reallistic.
Room cleaning sucks, that's way easier (and more reallistic) in RO.
Changing to the M203 sucks - yeah I'd do that so slow in RL too.
Everything feels clumsy.

Sniper class isnt very good, nor is RPG

This game require tactics too, which i like

One thing I hate is some bug that makes all my enemy kills count as tks in the scoreboard (no, I don't get the "teamkill" message but my score goes down by five every time I shoot the enemy). And I'm 100% positive I shot insurgents when I was a marine myself (from point blank range and I could study their bodies after killing them). Made me look like a dork with a score of -37 or something (I even capped one objective and shot half of the enemy team). :(

Can someone explain the score system for me please.

I'm still earning points but I'm not sure why, and whats more a couple of times I've killed an enemy and not received nowt.

The only thing I can think of is that I'm getting paid for holding a zone.
Guess I should read the manual.

Apart from that, thank heavens I'm not testing the bugger !
Too much work !

With some polish this mod will be great. One thing that concerns me though, are the weapons hitscan or do they model the rounds' ballistics? I've never had to lead my targets, nor have I had to aim higher to hit people that are prone.

Aside from the fact that there are nowhere near as many suitable surfaces for deploying on, the bipod system for the MGs is more robust than RO's. You don't need to fold it back up just to shift to the side a foot, and you can look over the ironsights if you like. If you pivoted around the bipod itself it'd be perfect. Tripwire should take note.

lol at the ranges we have ( sub 100m ) ballistics would be really superflous

also it'd be really hard to code them into the source engine

Any particular server with good players and teamplay?

Just add me on steam and we can try to get some teamwork going..actually why don't we all have each others steam id's so we can play together?

I'm starting to like it now after my poor first impression.
