Insurgency isn't officially released though. It's still in early access.

You owe me 10 bucks for making me buy this crap!

I want my money and i want it now! Otherwise i'm sending my 2 6'-4" friends over to your house with couple of baseball bats. ;)

I'll take a check too, as long as you have the funds in the account. just send me your account number and we're good. :D

At least there is no weapon unlocks or persistent progression system =).

That is true. Even things like running feel a bit off, and a bit "floaty". It is not terrible and it is more realistic than most games. Sounds are good. The lethality slows the game down a bit, but aside from that, it is not especially tactical. But I'll have to play it more to be sure.

Well its not the release client and I dont know what they put in for the next version.

I think the fact that the game itself is pretty simple makes it great. No unlocks etc and other things that just get your distracted. This game goes straight to the core and it works well on that.

To me this game right now is Counterstrike for grown up's.

Tbh I wonder what people mean when they say tactical, is there an official definition anywhere? :p If ins isn't tactical I really do wonder what is, probably something I haven't played I guess.

Back in the old days we had tactical shooters like Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon or the SWAT games. Those games put more focus tactics and planning what and not so much on the shooting itself. However genres and names for it do change over time.

To me Insurgency is in fact a tactical shooter. It is not CoD of Battlefield where a few good players will win a match. In games like Insurgency the team that plays together the best wins in most cases. You do play well together by using tactics and planning your moves on the go.

Great game! Got it since early beta! Great progress, this game feels much different than early build. Relly good quality product. I played RO2 and RS too, red orchestra players can like it too. But its more close combat.

And this game will have great feature... matchmaking!

imo Insurgency is quite unique game, very different than other games nowadays. And yea I would say its tactical. I don't have anyone to play it, but I see people who play with Teamspeak, how they cover each other (its quite hard to spot enemies), using smokes etc.

worth trying. and imo is much different than CS.

imo this is good gameplay Official Insurgency Gameplay - Siege Push - YouTube

PS. lol my joining date to this forum, I'm here for much longer time ;p

Game looks nice, may i will give it a try, when they sale it for 5 Euros. How big are the maps, or are the all the same size as a classic cs map (tunnellayouts with choke points).
How is the weaponhandling?
Recoil and accuracy?
Is it worth the money??

source engine is limiting them to do bigger stuff.

Is it?? Perhaps the devs just want smaller run 'n gun action oriented maps. (sounds familar *cough* R02 maps *cough*)

I have read a source map can be roughly 32,000 units. In game - 1/2 mile by 1/2 mile.

In Unreal
You can't really run and gun in this game, not if you want to survive. Just because RO2 has smallish maps doesn't mean it's the same gameplay as other games. Insurgency is slower gameplay wise than RO2 even with smaller maps and everyone with automatics.

The maps in Insurgency are quite small, but most game servers limit the player count to 24, and some go up to 32. The game is meant to simulate the hectic close quarters urban combat seen during the Iraq War, and the maps are suited perfectly for it. There is also no spawning on squad leader, and re-spawning in general happens very few times in a match (always in waves). The AI for coop mode is constantly improving with each update, and would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Terrorist Hunt from the Rainbow Six games. I would call this game the closest equivalent to a modern warfare RO2 on the market, and would recommend it for $20.

Sorry but... Source is more superior than CryEngine or UE3. I don't even know a good game with cryengine...

I prefer more smooth and responsive game, and Source is far way better in that way.

But yeah, I aggree Insurgency should be cheaper.

To be fair I also have yet to see good multiplayer game that is actually using the cryengine. Project Reality 2 and Festung Europa are upcoming titles and I am excited to see what they can create with the engine.

As said by others already, Insurgency was always intended to have gameplay in a close quarter enviroments. Also so far the maximum ammount of players is 32 which is only 50% of what is the max at RO2. So by nature the maps are relatively small.

I think 20
