Instant magic tank shell switch?

Is it just a bug, or can you actually change the tank shell type instantly without having to reload?

For all the work that's been done to model the tanks correctly, that'd be a grievous oversight! I hope it's either a bug or a relaxed realism quirk: both options I'm comfortable with.

I had to fire my HE shell to switch to AP (there's a little arrow on it to indicate next shell) so I think it's working right. I do have auto reloading set to off in options though.

It seems to work right on manual, but on auto reload you can simply insta switch from AP to HE. Kinda wonders me that the devs didn't think of this when they put so much attention to tanks ;)

The indicator for next round changes, but does the actual shell change? Are you sure you aren't just seeing the indicator change but still have the fire the previous shell out of the tank before the changed one is loaded, as in RO1?

If im right, the tanks He rounds show an explosion and a Big flash, the ap round mostly only has dust rising when hitting the ground im almost 100% sure that it instantly changes

You ought to check first.

I think you have to fire what's loaded before the loader grabs the selected round.

When i checked last time i let the ap Shells reload and Fire a few times let it reload, pressed 6 and changed to He Rounds and it tells me it switched. The Next round has a much brighter explosion. Unless this is a Realismus thing
It shud be a bug

this is a legitimate bug. on FF i was using HE on a ET and after i loaded the next HE round (auto-reload was on) i switched to AP and fired, and got the AP effect instead of the HE one.

Should manual and auto reload even apply to tanks?

Forgive my ignorance, but maybe that's where the bug lies. To me, it seems like the gun should just reload as long as the loader (who is of course unplayable - but can be killed) remains in the tank.

Again, sorry if I am derp.

We are talking about that you can switch the tanks shell types without the previous shell being fired.
About your Bug, when the loader gets killed an ai Crew member will switch to his position. When they all die, your last chance is to switch to drivers position and flee
