Starting up solo games or multiplayer games (not that i've actually been able to get in-game, just as far as the map loading screen) takes a ridiculous amount of time. At least 5-10 mins. I easily meet the minimum requirements and have settings on par with my system, so in-game performance is fine. It's just getting in-game that's the problem. Any ideas why or fixes?

I have the same problem.
In-game i'm usually okay, but the loading times are ridiculous! Sometimes when I finally get into a game, my teams already on the 2nd or 3rd wave XD.

Intel Pentium 4 3.0ghz, Nvidia Gefore FX 5200 XT 128mb, 512mb 400mhz DDR SDRAM.

I'm aware that my system is quite outdated, but, based on the requirements Tripwire has listed, it's supposedly adequate enough to run the game. As I said, in-game performance is fine, its just the loading times that are retarded.

Turn down your settings a boat load, that may help a bit. Turning off shadows, turning down your resolution should help. If not - go to your start menu - all programs - accesories - System Tools - Disk Defragmenter.

I had to run this on my computer and it actually sped it up loads, it took something crazy like 21 hours though.

.. I usually don't like to share but my computer is worthy of my doughnuts.

Uhm, 512MB ram is abit low tbh.
I'm running 4gig ram myself and the loading time are not very long :p

maybe not the answer you wanted, but except buying more ram, you could always turn down the graphic settings.

What the **** is with people saying.

Oh defrag will fix it.

Are they kidding?

I have never ever heard of defrag fixing anything. Not since PC's ran on Pentium 3 processors has a defrag fixed ****.

Defrag will, at most, provide the most minuscule of performance boosts (unless your hard drive is nothing but fragmentation then there might be a noticeable increase).

However, that half a gig of RAM seems to be the biggest issue here. You'll probably find your best fix is to invest a few dollars and purchase more ram for your system.

Defrag in both ro and killingfloor give me a major boost in performance, not in fps but general smoothness. As he has 512mb of mem he needs to use his harddisc as well so definitely needs a good performing harddisc.

To make the loadingtimes shorter and the game perform better on that comp he needs to follow this as well. http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showthread.php?t=11052.

Together with turning off dynamic netspeed and reduce mouse lag (the latter actually gives me lag)

And decals, ragdolls, shadows put to the lowest possible to save cpu power.

Just save the killingfloor.ini and apply the settings if you dont like it you can change back but it should make the game load about 10 times faster...

This is a problem for me too. I have a relatively high spec PC (3 gig DDR3 RAM, Intel i7 quad core CPU, GTX 295 GPU), all the latest drivers.

The beta ran like a dream for me, but now maps take a age to load up, I also get insane caching when i'm in game. Something's definitely amiss.
