Back in the days when Red Orchestra hopped over from 2.1 to the huge versions they were planning some sort of singleplayer.

As I recall you would play as an agent in "Red Orchestra" (predecessor of the KGB) which was also known as Die Rote Kapelle (a nickname given by the Gestapo).
A secret spionage network which was set up by the Polish Jew "Leopold Trepper".

So what happend with this plan? Could it be revived for Red Orchestra: Ostfront?

I mean it's not priority 1, but maybe you could include it later on?!?

Which would be more fun than some sneaky sillyness. I want to see 100's of soldiers on the screen at once, not the done to death, man sneaking around.

Not that RO is making a singleplayer (yet :p) but hey

Who's cooking what? The only single player plan there was for RO was a single player ww2 shooter, using RO's realistic gameplay.

Actually Jeremy and some of the original devs came up with the spy idea but it never materialized. I think they had the entire idea on paper but chose to focus on multiplayer.

Yes - and they also hadn't really done their research :)

The Red Orchestra network was nothing to do with the KGB and was based in Switzerland and Germany. The Germans had largely broken up the ring by late 1943. And they certainly never indulged in any activities involving guns... their best source of info was from a high-ranking officer in the German Army High Command (OKH).

But, as someone said - the idea never really got off the ground :)
