The game should have had OpenAL, with 3D audio and hardware acceleration etc..

But instead there is X Audio which has only 2D audio, does everything on the CPU and is designed for consoles... No wonder the game doesnt sound good and has sound related performance issues etc

But for some reason TWI still havent updated it away from their official system requirements, so maybe (hopefully) they will patch OpenAL to the game and give us great quality (3D!!) audio, hardware acceleration that will offload CPU and memory and an API thats designed for PC instead of consoles  That would be really nice, just like ROOST but updated and even better:IS2:
This will also fix performance issues.

It's not only you Sojuz.

Compare your video to this

Red Orchestra 2: HoS - Squad Leader on Fallen Fighters - YouTube

- weapons, explosions don't sound so strong like in old RO
- music is louder than artillery or ambient sound (during WWII soldiers didn't have MP3 player on their ears)
- there is a lot of random chatter which reminds me CoD game
- that chatter is in English...

These are immersion breakers. For me HoS doesn't represent a real war, but some kind of movie action from WWII. It feels like very "soft", polite and casual representation of battlefield.
Well, it's not first thread where community points out wrong designer decisions. I wonder why TWI decided to change something that worked very well in their previous game.

I feel the same. About every time 2-3 Russians spawn together they shout their battlecry. It blocks out every other sound in game, it is annoying, and is over used. Nothing better than storming a building with a group only for every player to shout out that annoying line, alerting the enemy of your whereabouts.

I tried to disable music in the options, but there is still music in game. I wish I could disable all music aside from end game music (like RO OST).

The random chatter is annoying, and sounds corny and over dramatized to me. The voices sound more out of place than the voices in BF3. RO2's music + chatter actually makes the game sound less authentic than BF3 to me.

@up it is annoying, but you need to remember for what audience HoS was designed...

Call of Duty - World at War ( PC Multiplayer ) - YouTube

The same chatter with stupid English accent. You are right: BF3 sounds better (damn good) and more authentic than HoS.

Regarding sound engine: total mess. MkB/AVT still hurts my ears on public when it's been 5-6 months since release and TWI goes on another vacations.

Bring back OpenAL and hardware acceleration!
