Agree. This thing is never coming out now. There was a piece of hope left but now everything is gone. The game will never be released. No, no, it never will be fully developed let alone released. Besides, it will be paid instead of being mod, a free thing as it was supposed to be. This is even worse than being an addon for RO2 like RS. I would be suprised if we see anything before 2017-2018 and by that time its gonna be outdated badly. It was too good to be true. To have a Vietnam war based game with the RO2 mechanics. Now I realized it really sounds as a dream. Such Vietnam war game can exists only in our dreams and will never ever see a broad daylight.

Oh FFS, sure it would have been nice to see it soon as a mod for ROHOS, but remember a couple things.
- it is their work and their creation and they can choose to do what they want with it and if going full blown into a game is it, I wish them well. (Same for Jackboot...)
- Remember some of the members are ex Mare Nostrum, and for all their work then, when their mod came out there weren't a great number of players in ROOST at the time that picked it up. It would be a shame to do all that mod work and have the same thing happen here. It will be a longer harder road going for a full game, but the rewards and the greater number of players will be worth it if they pull it off.

I wish them the best, but i bet they make the same bad end as the festung europe team. So many hopes last on them, and such a small community cant deal with it. Its a huge step from developing a mod to going full standalone.

I feel this is a good move. I hope this can bring in a larger audience than it would of had as an RO2 mod.
Best of luck, I look forward to it.

Not only, not a single HOS Mod survived, nearly not a single server in the european area or with a decent ping hosts custom content, the vehicle mod team got .... fisted up their asses and there awesome work got thrown into the garbadge. I miss the good old Ro Ost days. I wish Ro2 wasnt never ever released. Ro2 is always the same (same old boring stock maps, same old boring maps, same old boring weapons nothing new fresh). Nearly not a single custom good Ca Map. Im so sad. Its time to move on, lucky that summer keeps me doing other stuff instead sitting infront of my pc and playing such downfalls. C YA. May the future shines bright (i doubt it allready wrote it 2 years ago).

This would go under apperciated as a mod for HOS. HOS and its modding scene are really dead. Why let their hard work go to a waste. From what I've heard UE4 is a lot easier to work with than UE3. I know they'll have to throw their base out and start over, but I hope they keep the gameplay similar to HOS because I thought the gameplay mechanics was one of the great points about it. Overall the team made a good decision.

What's this about Festung Europa? I don't see an official announcement that it's dead at all. About In Country, this is good for them and it gives them a lot more freedom. Saying that it's gonna die right after they make this announcement is very disrespectful to the developers.

Thank you, I'm sure In Country will be fine, and turn out great. This is nothing but good news, the devs deserve compensation for there work IMO.

I was confused about FE as well. Yes, they haven't released new media in quite a while (December 2013 in fact), but in the forums they insist that they still work on this project.

The world needs IC:V, so you better make sure that you actually release it! ;)

judging by their first footage release years ago and their recent player models, pop smoke is a pro team with a lot of talent behind it. i hope it's going to be like rising storm? where it ca neatly fit into ro2? pretty please? if not, that's fine. it will do for vietnam war games what ro/ro2 did for ww2 and eastern front specifically.

Overall its for the better. I just hope there wasn't too much development lost because this has been in the works for 4+ years. Everyone has been patiently waiting. I have no doubt though that when it is released it will be quality, just hopefully we don't have to wait too much longer. There is no point in releasing this as a mod for RO2. The RO2 mod scene is dead. First it was IE, now this. I guess the UE3 limitations were too much. And the fact that RO2 is not as popular as expected, that must be disheartening. Good luck though; I will keep my eye on it.

With regards to Festung Europa. As someone else mentioned here, they have not given a content update since Dec 2013. They are having serious internal problems; we know that at least half of the dev team quit the project. Months went without any forum posts/updates, and it wasn't until people starting posting that the game was dead, that the devs have now started using the forums again, reassuring that the game is still being worked on. There have still been no content updates though, only forum posts saying that it is not dead.

Money can complicate things. Had Festung Europa tried to be a free standalone on the CryEngine, similar to Traction Wars, it may have been out already or been near completion, but from what I've read, the devs disagreed about the end product/goal. I hope Incountry fairs better.

We are still much alive, we'll have an update soon as lot of work is happening behind the scenes before we can announce anything further,

Also approved just your account, we get a lot of spam bots and drupal isn't the best at filtering them out so sometimes it's hard to spot real users among the bots. We're looking into something a bit more robust.
