If any of you have taken a look at the new gamescom footage, you must of noticed how impressive the sound is. Probably even beats metro 2033 in my books.

Personally I think the bolt action rifles sound devastating, especially when there is a lot of silence and the crack of the rifle instantly changes the atmosphere.

What are all your thoughts?

I couldn't tell from all the commentary...not too mention they used a hand held camera...if you are referring to the biscuit video

They used direct sound from the computer.

I thought the sound design sounded great. Especially liked how inside a building you would get some echo's and things sounded further away.

The crack of rifles sounded powerful too, none of that bb-gun style gun sounds.

And, thankfully, the English voiceovers for your own team sound really good. I especially liked the Russian commander in the beginning of the first round of countdown. Hard to discern what he said, but it sounded epic nonetheless

Those sound are at the level of bad company 2, if not even better 'cause it's not covered by an omnipresent wind sound

Love the sound design. Probably not as technically advanced as that of DICE's Frostbite engine - but the use of voices, echoes and the pure sound of the guns are just awesome!

While the Frostbite engine may be better technically, the actual sounds used in Bad Company 2 don't seem to be on the level of RO2. Bad Company 2 / Battlefield 3s guns don't sound nearly as impressive. Sometimes better samples outweigh having a better sound engine. Dont get me wrong though, they easily rank near games like Metro 2033 in terms of sound design.

THIS!!

I REALLY wanted to just hit 2 to make it go into first person spectator mode, it was annoying to see the clipping. However, game looked amazing, and as someone new to the RO series, I did not regret my DDE purchase.

Oh, and I can't wait to kill commie scum.

AFAIK BC2 always takes place in environments where air is present, instead of in a vacuum or liquid.
I know that but what I meant is that you hear it way more than you would IRL, and the basses are just overdone.

BTW: compare the MG-34 sounds IG with this one MG34 - YouTube

Sounds are almost the same

I don't think they did, and if I'm wrong, then its the open commentary mic that null's it, because when I got home and listened on my 7.1 surround sound, it didn't sound that great, even in between them talking. (The recording sound that is) The game sound does sound good though, but it was hard to tell if the gun fire carried like it is suppose to.

For example, when firing my k98 Mauser in my pasture into my empty pond, I get at least 3-4 echo's, the first from the sound wave hitting the edge of the pond, then bouncing off the tree line behind me, then bouncing off the tree line a half mile away, and then (depending on air pressure of the day) another echo off the tree line behind me once more.

Yoshiro confirmed that on the steam forums

I don't think that's true. TWI posted about the memory requirements of having a 3rd set of voicecoms being too much.

About the sound quality, what I find really amazing is you don't just hear the report of the guns, but the mechanical action of weapons as they function. TWI mentioned they used the same guys who did the gun sounds from HBO's "The Pacific."

I agree, they sounded really good, also it's great news to hear that your teams' spoken language is changeable.

The sound was top notch, but I noticed from the footage that the Russian uniforms were way to bright.
