Impossible to mutually kill each other. What is the cause of this?

So what happens to a tossed grenade when I get sniped before it detonates? These immediately disappear too? I never hear them explode.

I`ve certainly seen mutual deaths where my opponent has bled out (or crisped up ;)) after i died of his gunshot, and closer than 100m.

I have experienced the sensation of not getting the mutual kill you thought was coming though, perhaps a ping difference phenomena such that you were actually shooting at a player who had already moved?

Think this is unaffected. I've shot players just as they throw a grenade at me, and been killed by the resultant explosion.

I've absolutely had mutual kills. As others have said, it seems to only happen at 50m+. I've had it happen several times at Iwo.

Ah so are we counting only dual headshots? Yes, if you die instantly your bullet disappears. Most of what I imagine youre talking about is the lack of the ability to "pull the trigger" fully with someone lined up in your sights when their rifle fires first

Death-dropped grenades definitely always detonate after you die. But it does not attribute TKs or kills to you. If you get killed by one of these phantom grenades from another player then it shows as a blank no-name.

No, i have confirmed that i am actually hearing the rifle fire the moment i am hit. Tested it thoroughly with a friend and he saw the same thing when he died first yet sometimes heard his rifle discharge when he was directly lined up with me.

I have never heard a full discharge in this instance. Maybe thats the sound it makes when you get shot :)

Maybe you should just pretend its what I said and you will forget about it and sleep better (after all it makes sense and matches the grenade behavior).

In the end, if you play more hours - you will see it happen eventually and this thread will be OBE. I cannot possibly imagine how you and your friends could accurately test this to within the milliseconds required

Last time I played I noticed that the higher your ping the slower your bullets (They take longer to travel). Did they fix that? It was really annoying when you had 200 ping and your bullet took a whole second to hit a wall 1m away.

I actually just got a mutual kill on Saipan and so I jumped on here to document it.

I get multiple mutual kills per round. I average about 3 a round. Most of them 50 meters and under. I still get a fair amount of 100 meter + mutuals.

Now Fade to Black mutuals are a lot less frequent . My best on that is 100 meters. Totally pulled that off by blind luck. we both got a good laugh out of it.

I'm pretty sure I get numerous mutual kills in a session also. Unsure of any range limits to them.

I certainly get them when I'm underhanding the mortar as a grenade launcher at close range. I get shot, but my mortar blasts the guy who got me.

You know, I was actually wondering about this very issue when I hopped on earlier.. More than a few times I thought I was going to cause a double-kill (on myself and my opponent) when we both fired our bolt-actions at the same time. I never noticed this happening on HoS and only RS lately; good to know I'm not the only one perplexed by this.

I have also noticed that kill reports in the Kill Ticker pop up almost immediately in RO2 but take several seconds to display in RS.

This is a server config, admins can choose the way they want the death messages to work (delayed, instantaneous, show your kills only or all the kills, etc.).

Yeah, this bullets disappearing in thin air if the enemy fires first crap happens to me in almost every game. I hear the muzzle report of my gun but the bullet never materializes.

If this game really has 50m hitscan limitation it explains couple a other things too. For example why it's so hard to hit someone running at 40-50m distance: you automatically take lead but because there is no ballistics involved you miss the shot.
