Importing DEM data

Does anyone know how to do this? I've addressed this thread, but whenever I load the plugin in Google Earth, it does not show up. Anyone know why?

You can import DEM's into 3dsmax to create a mesh. If you want a height map, create slices with a grayscale graduation black (lowest) to white (highest) and export a BMP and convert it with G16ed [url]http://homepage.ntlworld.com/martingbell/ut2003/[/URL]

If I remember right, LT3D can import DEM's and export a G16 height map for making terrain.
