There wouldn't be actually any need to whitelist it as the mutator doesn't need any ranks, as all weapons are directly accessible. Or am I mistaken?

This +1

Not exactly all weapons :)o) but only those that actually did take part in these actual historical batles.
Well, it's more accurate than RO2 vanilla, for example the Mod is preventing all those MKbs from invading Stalingrad... :D

Greetz.

Honestly, the only reason to whitelist it is to get it into the Ranked tab so admins can then justify running it as the sheep will see it and give it a try.

Otherwise, it'll just be a small number of us in the IOM club getting together once in a while.

Internally we have had some discussions about whitelisting. In my belief we shouldn't be sacrificing any of our staple features just to make it to the ranked tab.

We are also very, very far from submitting to whitelisting (which we will only do once we are 'feature complete' AND 'bug free'), and development on the mod is now winding down as the team is becoming busy with personal matters. I think it's safe to say IOM v1.15 will be our biggest release for a long while.

What to expect from v.1.15? :)

Some new weapons, improved movement speed, improved sniper functionality, some new skins (Sniper capes, Wehrmacht skins), new gore, more RS game functionality, and ofc bugfixes for certain features. There might be more but I probably forgot.

I don't think that whitelisting really will do the trick as first of all, there is NO leveling which not good to those CoD addicts. Secondly, even if it is whitelisted, servers often do not run any redirect service, meaning you are forced to wait til one waterdrop after another finally fills the big tube and you can jump into the bath of awesomeness. Thirdly currently you have to change stuff in your configs. many people have no clue where this might be and even if they do are to lazy to do so.

I can be wrong but I assume it's a similar phenomena that took place in the mod days. People often lacked the basic skill to move files around on the PC and get them into the correct folder.

Very true, it's always going to be a mod which will require more effort or at least DL time from the user. Most won't even DL custom maps, so I'm realistic with how broad a reach it will have. The only advantage of it being in the Ranked tab is that more people will see it and possibly give it a shot. Right now, if you're not a forum visitor and most players aren't, you'll be oblivious that it exists.

Posting Youtube vids is likely the best way ATM to spread the word among the overall population.

A checkbox for Unranked servers is always a better method than having separate Ranked/Unranked tabs. But as we know, its been brought up and nothing was done with it.

i dont really understand why do i work for this mod if there is maximum 15 players on events.

I love the IOM and I appreciate all the work that the team have put into it but... RO:II is three years old now and this is still in development without any guarantee of whitelisting in the near (and even distant) future. Halftracks took too long to implement and there are too few maps for proper combined arms.
I've lost interest in RO:II and IOM.

A combined arms maps I remember from the mod that was awesome: Karlovka with its two bridges, if you rushed right flank with the tank and infantry came behind in halftracks you could win the map, whilst if the infantry operated separately the map was surely to be lost as the 3 available tanks were simply wasted.

Yes, several things took far too long to make it into the game, nonetheless, IOM has totally refreshed my interested in RO2 and Rising Storm. I am doing tutorials for mapping in order to bring my part to the growing numbers of custom maps out there.

In my humble opinion, if this mod wants to become more than a curiosity, it needs to seek whitelisting and support from TWI--and not dither and wait on the matter either. Wait too long and the game might become too old.

I have no clue what is feasible, but the ideal scenario would be to work a little bit with TWI so that when the next patch comes, the mod will be whitelisted and working on release day. When the next free weekend comes, TWI can install it on the official servers that they open up. The hundred thousand or so people trying out RO2 during the free weekends would build enough critical mass for the mod so that it would be played on a regular basis.

The mod is loved by many but with only bots and maybe 3 or 4 other people to play with, no one is going to sit in a server for a few hours waiting for it to fill up. Its a catch-22. People won't join empty servers until their are other people to play with.

---

If support from TWI is not possible then communication with the big server owners will be key. Talk to the big clans. The whole unranked vs ranked tab thing can be sorted out if several popular servers siwtch at the same time since they will visible on everyone's favorite server tab.

Yesterday was Football time ;) (could be the reason)

But it's a pity that we need a event to become some player on the server.
But the Problem is that a lot of RO player didn't knoe about IOM. Unbelievable, but a lot of people don't take a look into a official forum to get some news. Maybe because not everyone speaks english.
And especially for RO i think a lot of people have lost any interest. I know it by some friends. They really miss tanks, vehicles and good combined arm maps in RO. But now it's too late. Most people wouldn't come back, no matter what happen.
