I can't seem to play solo HoE on any map that's not gigantically open/easy to kite, (like West London or Manor) and I always get overrun while trying to camp.

:/ For instance on Biotics lab, I die by wave 4 and Evil Santas Lair on wave 3! SO FAST! As a zerk with a Katana (On the other hand, on Death Basin Sands, the easiest map ever, I was able to beat wave 10 by pure kiting, but not the Patriarch).

Yet on youtube, there are people who solo HoE an extremely hard map like Aperture, unperked! Any help please? D: And to take out sc, I get VERY far away from them, and LAR them in the face till they die because I'm only a level 3 (almost 4 now O:) zerk so I can't stun them with the axe (I tend to use LAR and 9mm more than kat... so I level slow).

Why are you soloing as a level 3 on hell on earth? I'm going to assume you aren't experienced in the perk as you are level 3 asking this specific question. you've answered your own question, the game takes time to figure out and get used to and to get good at one perk. once you get level 6 you still have to continuously play to get better and better.

I play HoE with friends regularly, and it's much easier with a good squad on Mumble (I go Sharpy or Support because I recently memorized all the combos, or Medic if no one wants to be one). I'm asking for help with solo HoE. I figure once I'm able to do this, I can pull off some clutch plays if need be :D

If you are having trouble with a perk like support on biotics lab holding the spawn on solo, you are doing something fundamentally wrong. Whether this is something like not timing your shooting/reloading well, or welding the correct doors, you are inexperienced in something very very basic. Other wise, this spot is a straight shoot-at-the-bad-guys deal as support, no combos needed - aa12 spam is enough to take down anything on solo very quickly.

A zerk with a katana - level 3 mind you - simply does not do well with camping in confined areas. This holds true for not only solo but team games as well. You'll probably be ok holding a small spot as zerk with a katana until a husk and siren show up at the same time with a crawler escort.

I always use zerk on solo, I think I could camp as a SS decently (though Husks and Sirens would be problem) I know the melee SC combo, HSG jump combo (with 3 PSG or KSG shots to soften him up first), and the FP combo (Nade, alt-fire, 2 more nades, jump HSG)

Ah.. so I'm not just failing hard? O:

you might be able to camp as zerk if say you had katana/crossbow to take our sirens and husks from afar, and were exceptionally talented at hitting crawlers out of the air and dealing with mobs, but this would be challenging even at level 6, and FPs would be an instant wipe. support camping is easy peasy, and sharpshooter and commando can also excel. heck even demo is fairly easy if you time your reloads well and use an offperk pistol such as the magnum or mk23. really solo is all about prioritizing the main threats first, and timing your reloads well, and also luck of the spawns, sometimes you just get completely ****ty ones.

I think everyone has said it best. Biggest thing here for you to do, is just get your perks up before attempting to solo on HoE. level 5 or 6 is usually the right level when it comes to soloing HoE maps. Of course being with your buddies on a HoE map is easy, ebcause their most likely high levels and they are able to do their job and take out the zeds as they appear. My advice for zerking, is use the knife and machete for the first two waves, and then get the katana/axe for the rest. If you're able to save enough money, then get a Xbow or LAR. Xbow will one shot Sirens, and nearly kill husks. LAR is good too, because a few headshots with it, will either take them out, or make them soft enough for you to damage them.

Also, when it comes to crawlers, if there is enough room to run around, then learn to swipe them in mid air. I know this might sound difficult, but the time to swing at them, is when their close enough to jump at you. Swinging when they are about to jump or have bent down to jump at you, will result in you missing them. Now, the timing is a bit earlier since you're a level 3 zerk. As for camping, zerk is just not that good of a perk to use for HoE, especially on a small map like biotics lab or bio-hazard. The best ones to solo as, are sharpy (assuming you know how to focus and line up nearly all shots & dont panic when you see a lot heading towards you), commando (I don't know what to say about it, but steady aim for the heads, will make quick work of them), and support specialist (reload, reload, reload. Master it, and you nearly have SS done). Now, if the map is much more open (like mountionpass, waterworks, suburbia, etc.) then you could do well with firebug. Just make sure you have enough distance for them to burn, and don't spam the flame. Spamming the fire, will just reset the DPS meter thing.

They're actually lower leveled than me. I have a 3 zerk and mando, 4 support, and 6 sharpy (5 medic too).

Okay, I'll try to solo without using a zerk.

My zerk loadout was Katana + LAR because there's no point in carrying an axe if you can't stun sc imo

The axe is not pointless in that situation. At level 3 you cannot single alt fire decap husks or sirens or even bodyshot stun husks. The axe altfire does 1 hit kill sirens and husks and will stun if you miss the head

I generally get killed before I can get that close to them :p But I will keep that in mind! :) Do you have to be level 6 to stun sc or just 5?
(Someone told me you can stun sc with the LAR at 5 sharpy... never even bothered till 6. How is stunning at 5?)

Pretty impossible. You do need to be L6 sharp to stun a sc with a LAR.

L5 zerkers do the same damaage as L6 zerkers, so both can stun a sc from front with an axe. If you're duoing though, get your friend to put a couple of 9mms in his face then run around his back and you can stun him from like L3+ with axe hits to the back. Probably from like L1 if you can manage to headshot him from behind as well (don't try this).

Okay. I'm on a bad streak right now, just lost 3 HoE games in a row... Q.Q I think I'm done with HoE for today... I'll probably play Hard or something.

If it makes you feel any better, I have limited concentration spans as well. I can play maybe 1 game at my absolute best, or a couple of games concentrating well, or 3 games with a good team where I don't have to be 100%, but after that I just start playing badly, and need to drop down to hard or take a break to recharge.

Haha, thanks XP

EDIT: HAH... I just got banned off a server for "Reason: [Killing too much]"

I had 150 kills, the next highest had 32... .-. What douchebags. I wasn't even using a level 6.

Edit's Edit: I think I'll stick to HoE actually. I was kiting this FP around as a katana zerk until it was the only thing left and this retarded level 6 commando shoots it to rage it and kill me. (Zed counter was 1! mind you!!!) Noobs on lower difficulties... .-.

First of all, it's probably best you get to level 5/6 first. Knowing when to kill and when to continue moving is key. Also try not to run in straight lines, you tend to get caught on s**t when you do. More movement is better. Clots and sirens love to hide around corners.
