I'm not 'feeling' the chaos of Stalingrad, a few suggestions.

It could take many hours or days to clear a city block or even a few buildings so if anything the pace is already way too frantic. There were clearly delineated front lines though of course there were often salients and surrounded units. It was not helter skelter running everywhere like madmen fighting though. The OP has some misconceptions I think.

I think a good idea would be to create TE maps based on small sections of original maps, a BRILLIANT example would be station, just the large trainstation building itself, have the Germans spawn on one end, Soviets on the other. Territories would be things such as "Main hall", "Floor 2 west", "Floor 2 right" and so on. Maps like this would truly scope in on Stalingrad at the height of it's chaos and brutality.


CD mode is sort of like this, but obivously it is a bit different from what you are asking for. If I remember correctly, there was talk of scaling for the number of players in a map to make bigger maps more cramped, but that's not been implemented.

I like this idea a lot. They should create another mode with just 1 section of the map for a more intense fight.
Yeah, rename Barracks to NCO barracks and let the whole fight happen there.. or Pavlov's House --> Zab's house, because mengs, the fights arent intense enough!
Who knows it might be even fun for a few rounds till u spawn with a bolt action rifle and run into the fray vs full autos in CQB and 4 guys per room. >.<

Station is already a sick spamfest, I dont even..

Yeah I feel there is almost nothing wrong with the game, (gameplay wise).
It's the maps. Something about the current maps just doesn't feel the way RO1 did for me.

Station 1 "only" changed hands 6 times (I've read it was 10 times as well, different sources) in one day.
13th Guards Rifle lost about 3000 men on that day...

Reduce reinforcement waves (Respawn times) to about 10 seconds, limit automatics as this will encourage picking up enemy weapons or weapons of your dead comrades which was common in Stalingrad (at least for the Soviets as one in ten men didn't have a rifle).

I'd love the thought that whatever room I go in, I could die, even if our team controls the area there could be some lone russian just waiting around the corner, or at the end of a hallway. Right now once your team secures the area, the spawns are so far apart that that area will be pretty much clear of stragglers, but in this game mode there will be chaos almost everywhere, clear battle lines would form in single buildings as opposed the usual battle lines you'd see on a map or something. Hell maybe there will be no clear battle lines, who knows ^^. This type of chaos may not appeal to others, but I think there is a fair majority of players that this would appeal to and thus I think something like this is worth thinking about.

i agree.

grain elevator is one of my favorites for that reason though its potential is not fully utilized.

it would be nice if EVERY floor had to be captured by the germans. As it stands the germans just start sneaking up to the upper levels, which you actually dont have to capture anyway.

there is some decent midrange action outside, and it would be cool if we can get some fast and brutal firefights once the courtyard is taken.

Fighting happened in every square inch of the city.... But it didn't all happen at once in a 20 minute span... I think it's fine the way it is. (Except weapon sway, suppression, sprinting, zoom, spawning, spawning on squad leader, historical inadequacies, recon planes, mkbs, bandaging, etc.)

Spartanovka is such a map to be honest. You can pretty much expect intense fighting for every inch of the place on a 64 man server. Though... truly urban it is obviously not.

ROost was also in the beginning not so good as it is now. There were
only small maps.

We have to await new maps, weapons, tanks etc.
And i have the patience.
