1. When did they announce this would be for 360 and PS3?
2. Can it have as many players or will it be like BF2 and have only have half the capacity for players?
3. Will it be released the same time?
4. 360 (and i belive the PS3 as well) has USB ports, any chance of a mouse and keyboard release for the game?

That last question and BSwearer's comment ties in nicely, there was a game for the original xbox, i forget the name, but it had its own controller, it was 3 times the size of a regular PC keyboard and had 300 buttons. I believe it was released 2001 or 2002. I'm not sure if it was successful either but i remember it getting A LOT of attention on the now defunct EGM magazine years ago.

Wii tank controller!!!!! full interior panel!!! market that one! :D

hmmmm, maybe that's TWI's super secret plan.....to get all the major platforms to support using a mouse and keyboard so that the free aim system will work and everyone can play the same game together on multiple platforms!

also, everybody plays with the same ping on any server around the world. oh and there is one global timezone!!

ok, yeah i've got to be dreaming :D

it is my personal hope that this game never sees the light of consoles, mainly because i have yet to see one console game that allows modding; custom building onto a game is something that makes computer games special. how dare you say you hate mods, ostfront originated as a mod, and so did KF. what you want sir, is to have milk out of a beer bottle, or any other analogy for two things that dont bloody mix. consoles are made for a simpler gameplay for a simpler person, and/or for parties, and i will stand by that point untill I see a console game that actually interests me with some depth and required tactics and though to win a battle.

if you still dont get what I mean, just imagine this being cross platformed, the console children would want crosshairs, or atleast auto aim. because console games have never been about skill in aim or movement, theyr about mario blowing your *** off with a red turtle.

if consoles such as ps3 like zets mentioned, and maybe 360 if it actaully does support mouse/keyboard with UT3 engine, then a cross platform game could work. most people either have a good computer, or a good console system....not both. that means if say, i had a really good PS3 and a not so good computer, why in the world would i buy a PC only game to use on my computer? that doesn't make any sense. but, if that same game was also available for PS3, of course i'd buy it. if you have both a computer and a console would you buy the "same" game for both platforms? of course not. you'd just buy it for one or the other.

the thing is, if the game was cross platform, then TW would reach double, maybe triple the market for selling its game rather compared to a PC only release.

i love my mouse and keyboard. notice, i didn't say computer, because if you think about it, consoles are computers. question is whether or not the hardware is compatable and the device you wish to play with, controller or mouse/keyboard. for fps games, mouse and keyboard is the most user friendly way to play and for the realistic nature of RO's style of gameplay (i.e. free-aim/no crosshairs) mouse and keyboard is the ONLY way that would work. some fps are playable on console ONLY because there have crosshairs.

If HoS was realeased cross platform, it needs to be one game. period. no crosshairs, realism, etc...and no bs like CoD did with the various versions of their same game they released on multiple platforms.

success would boil down to two things:
1.) the console can support keyboard/mouse using the UT3 engine.
2.) console players accepting that in order to play RO:HoS and its realistic style of gamplay, they will have to use a mouse and keyboard not controllers.

If they whine and moan about no crosshairs, not being able to use controllers, one shot kills etc.... then tough **** for them, they can go back to their other games. at least TW gave them the option and made $$$ by selling them a copy

SORRY FOR LENGTH :D

Actually I use Xpadder and play RO with my Xbox 360 controller and it plays like a charm... just as easy as using a mouse, and for a "noob" Rifleman (and Sniper) I have done considerably good with it so far...

eh, xbox360's die allot more than gaming pc's.
Not to mention the advantage of more powerful hardware.

The price/performance of pc's is also very good at the moment. You can get a very good pc capable of maxing out everything for less than 1000 dollars YES DOLLARS NOT EUROS.

The Playstation 3 can use USB keyboard and mouse, I've personally used the keyboard. It's very useful to the PS3 web browser and for text messaging.

However, as I understand it the Xbox 360 does not have keyboard/mouse support despite having USB ports.

The Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 have to have keyboard/mouse support in-game in order for it to work in games. The Playstation 3 has one game that I know of, UT3, that supports KB/M in-game. The problem there is that most people use controllers and you the option to disable KB/M in your server. Makes it really hard to ensure common competitive ground.

That and nobody even plays UT3, on any platform, but particularly PS3.

IMHO, this game would be totally unsuitable for consoles. I consider it a cardinal sin to realistic tactical FPS on consoles. Most console games have big crosshairs, copious quantities of aim-assist, no historical context or realism at all, exaggerated physics, ridiculous fictional plots with bad narratives, and horrible online gameplay. Most Xbox Live games feature a max of 16 players via client-based servers (basically P2P), whereas if you play RO on PC you've got a max of 50 players and you can connect to a player-run dedicated server.

My vote is towards PC exclusivity because console players would neither appreciate nor understand (and most of all they wouldn't purchase) Red Orchestra. I've seen games compromised so much just to make them work on consoles they're a shadow of their former selves.

I am actually running a 9600 GT I got for free from a BFG trade-up from my old 7800 GS AGP card, a motherboard I got for free from my brother's Core 2 Quad purchase at Fry's, 2 gigs of RAM that will cost less than $30 if you bought them today, and a $15 fan.

Oh, and my Core 2 Duo is a hand-me-down, too. My bro spent about $250 on his Core 2 Quad.

You can get a graphics processor with multiple times as many shaders as an Xbox 360 GPU for a hundred bucks to a hundred fifty bucks.

The good thing about PCs is their being modular. It's much easier to simply upgrade a PC than build one from scratch, which is something you have to do each successive generation of consoles.

TWI could make their own mouse/keyboard combination for the 360 and ps3, and sell it together with the game, it would certaily be a big package, and would atract attention in the stores =P

If they bring it out for consoles I really hope they don't have that crappy aim tracker like BF1943 has when you start shooting at someone as soon as they move slightly your gun automatically follows.

I'm afraid guys consoles are taking over PC's because they are just cheaper and its a fact. I went into GAME the other day & PS3 had 5 columns of shelves, Xbox had 3, WII had 2 and the PC had just the 1. Only a year ago it had 4.

We are being taken over by the foul mouthed 10 year olds and their tracking aim systems.

i dont mind consoles slightly taking over.

I mind losing the mouse in games on consoles.
Keyboard tbh could be replaced by something with an analog pad and pressure sensitive buttons.

As far as cross platform play to add into this. The 360 does not allow it unless the game uses games for windows live. The Live platform is closed and does not allow outside connections.

As far as the PS 3, it is an open platform, however, not sure steam would allow connection from ps3's as they aren't authed.

The joys of security networking!
