I'll Show You Mine If You'll Show Me Yours (Part Deux)

Its a vz98 made in BRNO after WWl on Mauser machinery. These were sold to turkey after adoption of the vz23/24. Only 10000 were made with the Lange vizier sight.
Yep I know. That's one of the reasons I bought it -- the rarity and it was at a good price! I was already looking for a Czech rifle. Originally was after a VZ24 but those are much more common than these. I love WWI-era guns.

Well gents, after 3 weeks of hard work, I present you my refinished CZ-98 rifle.

My goal was to preserve as much character as I could while also cleaning it up and making it look sexier. After 2 weeks of cleaning with mineral spirits and Murphy's soap, plus light steel wool sanding, I applied 6 coats of boiled linseed oil. My goal was 8 coats but I just didn't have the time (and I wanted my kitchen back!). This is the result. I hope it was worth all the work!

My M59/66 I had a problem with it when i took it to the range. The bullet casings would get jammed as the bolt was shutting, quite frustrating. Since then i took the spring out and lubed the hell out of it and made sure the hole to the piston in the barrel for the gas was clear of any kind of gunk. I have to test it to make sure it works.
