If it's a cut down stock like mine it should be Walnut. Your rifle is a cut down like mine, so that's most likely it. Nice score on the early date too. Mine is a MUCH more common 1916.

Here is one of my Walnut M93 Mausers. It's about the same shade. Although the grain pattern isn't nearly as good as your rifle's

I haven't shot it for groups, but it shot POA out of the box. This one is a Turk that was converted to 8mm in 1936.
M93's have a smoother action than the later M98's. I guess it's because they cock on close, like Enfields.

Spanish M93's aren't that common around here. I've yet to see one in a pawn shop, or gun store. A buddy of mine has one and said it's mine IF he ever decides to sell it.

I see that happening soon.

My (I'm pretty sure) Arisaka type 99 (with bubba'd forestock) with an intact crysanthemum, it wasn't ground off:

too bad bubba raped your stock... if you keep an eye on ebay i've seen non chopped arisaka stocks go cheap but for every one that goes cheap there's a bunch that sell for twice as much or more

DAMN, THunter! Those are some frakin' awesome pieces, dude. That's just all there is to it.

I wouldn't mess with the '45 Arisaka, though. One of the last Arisakas made is a collector's dream, and I hear that a lot of the "last ditch" rifles were so crudely manufactured as to create danger to the user. You probably know all of this, but, still...

yeah, the 45 arisaka i would never shoot or mess with. like you said theyre soo crudely made it would probably blow up in my face. i like it the way it is; as it was in 45'. especially because i know the history of it. it came with a bayonet and sling, somewhere along (nobody in my family can remember) what happened to the sling. Also this rifle is concidered rare because of the concentric circles, nobody really knows what they mean, but alot of guys are saying these concentric circle rifles were made for either police, government, civilians, or home guard. :)
