Hey guys, I don't come here that often... I don't play the game that often either. It still doesn't make me feel the way Ro1 did..

but we've been down that road so many times, it's not important.

What I DID want to say, is that I might have been a little wrong about this game developer and mod community as a whole, and I'll explain briefly why.

Anyone who has played Day Z probably ended up enjoying the game, It was pretty buggy at first, and still has it's fair share of bugs.. but the concept at the least was enjoying. Since then, this new game called "The War Z" has come out.

Now I won't bad mouth the devs, because that might be the wrong message to send considering I am basically apologizing to bad mouthing the Tripwire devs. If you google "The War Z" or just go to the steam store page for the game and click "Related News" in the far bottom right, you will be able to educate yourselves about the game and all of its incredible downfalls, both game and developer.

My whole point, is that I now know what a "Bad Developer" is. Tripwire is NOT a bad developer. The things Hammerpoint Interactive are doing are hilariously shocking. After reading the news, I felt sooooo bad about me sh&t talking this game soo much, that I felt extreme humility, and had to come back and just kinda make this ranting post about it.

Even the moderators for their community put this one to shame.. Draconian is a term I might use to describe the rules one mod posted that make Zips look like Mother Teresa!

Tripwire. I'm sorry! :)

Maybe this thread should go in a different subforum not related specifically to the game..oops

I spelled "criticize" wrong... fail
Well with the release of RO2 and broken promises TWI turned out to be pretty bad developer. That is genuinely trying to be a better one. Respect for that.

Holy hell it's been a loooong journey... over a year now, and RO2 is just about everything it should be. New vehicles and Rising Storm are on the horizon, new maps are out... it took a while, but we got there.

 This is what I'm sayin' as well. In spite of all the initial rancor, I was never in doubt that Tripwire would mend the problems. Because it has always been in their nature to do so. I'm glad folks are starting to recognize the improvements and getting themselves reinvested in this franchise.

Play War Z since oct 15th when Alpha started and its 2 months later the only problem they did was release it on steam and forget to add in most of the features listed were not in the game. Stupid idiots who dont research games before buying would have known that the game started alpha 2 months ago and the devs are working hard to push out more content. Great game a lot better then Day Z IMO. Arma engine is complete crap.

I really hate to bring the War Z drama over here but that is completely wrong. The issue was Hammerpoint releasing a game that's at best in early beta as a full release, and nearly none of the promised featured were available. However, if it was just this, the ****storm would of never grown this big. If you had followed this at all on the Steam forums you'd know that KewK (a war z dev) went on a banning spree, deleting/locking threads and banning users that said anything negative about the game at all (including people simply trying to tell users how to get a refund. Now this would be fine (still deplorable, but at least justified) if it was on their own forums, but said mod had no such permission from Valve to impose his own rules on the Steam forums (which he did, in a stickied thread) - and it goes to show to what length these guys will go to silence any criticism.

A stealth change was also made to their TOS after hordes of people started to demand refunds, whereby if you agree to the TOS you relinquish any right to a refund, no matter the circumstance. This if you don't know is a direct violation of US (and many other countries') Consumer Protection law. This change coincided with changing respawns to 4 hrs (instead of the normal 1) and charging for fast respawns. Now keep in mind that this is not a F2P title, yet they're trying to work cash shop stuff in to every facet of the game possible.

Hiliarious customer support also made the company's reputation much worse, since when a user asks for a refund they are threatened by customer service representatives with being black-listed from PayPal (or whatever payment method they used).

Sergey also did a now infamous interview with GameSpy regarding issues where he basically said "I give 0 ****s about intentionally falsifying game features in order to entice customers, users are just too stupid for not being more suspicious"

Now why does any of this matter? If gamers do nothing here, it sets a precedent for future developers (shady Russian ones or not) that its okay to outright lie about game features, flaunt established consumer protection laws, and blatantly silence all criticism without any repercussions. And I'm sure this is something we'd all like to avoid.

Keep in mind that this has no bearing on the actual quality or enjoyability of the game, but merely the shady and underhanded practices of its developers.

Edit: even the BBC and Forbes are picking up on it now, Hammerpoint's days are numbered.. for better or for worse.

''Forgot to add most features''

This is not an acceptable excuse. False marketing is illegal and ethically wrong. Many people are dissapointed and this is a clearly legal issue. I don't even want to talk about the state of the game. I have seen many buggy and glitchy games. But that isn't just the problem with this game. The graphics is horrible. Animations is horrible. This game is really not ready to be released for money.

Like that wasn't enough, the devs sell characters and items, which you can lose permanently. The fact that they do can be questioned, but the fact that they do it when the game is broken makes it even more pathetic. The IP is dangerously close to Day Z. The concept is aswell. It is not very likely that they came up with this IP so similar to DayZ. It was deliberately choosen to freeride on the success of DayZ. Which I understand. Because very few sane being would pay for such a crappy game and support the devs business mentality.

Arma engine is complete crap?

What do you base that on?

Also, DayZ is not a game. It's an alpha mod for ArmA 2.
